Well I have talked to a couple smaller haulers (Brokers) who are willing to take me on for a little better than what the bigger guys are offering. I live right in Windsor so a fast card is a must here. I already made the application and got my interview date. I was thinking the way to go would be a major company but just from what I'm seeing in the forums here quite a few big ones are not that great to work for. My buddy (neighbour) wants me to hook up with his outfit. he runs reefers along the east coast and down into Florida. I know you got to start somewhere but some of these places make it look like a joke.

There are companies out there that won't even talk with you if you don't have your F.A.S.T.

Hi Ken yeh you are very right there, I have just sent off the fast application and any job application now I also show that.Someone local contacted me yesterday and I was realy bloody happy to even get a response, only to be told why they dont hire newbies, hey at least he responded!

I am in my last week of school. I have my F.A.S.T. and because of this companies have responded positively.
tonymm Thanks this. -
I guess things are different in ontario then the maritimes we're a little easier going on the whole fast card thing. Most of the companies round here with pay for it for you just have to stay like 6 months which isn't really that bad
It does suck that alot companies wont higher new drivers right from school but they all have their reasons, i know the company i work for now was big into highering guys/girls fresh outta school but stopped doing that about three years ago and only just started highering outta school again but they are very picky on who they higher now, they stopped because the risk vs reward just wasn't worth it the higher insurance costs, equipment damages, and or them quitting after 2 to 6months either not liking the job or thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Its kinda funny too cause the a lot of the grass is greener guys end up coming back at some point lol.tonymm Thanks this. -
Yes I hear the same story here about the grass, and off people quitting after a short time.A neighbor of mine just spent $7500 to take the course , do his 6 weeks with Kryska and then decided trucking was not for him!!!!!!
