I have paid for a shower before out of necessity, but only happens once or twice a year. If I really need a shower, and for whatever reason haven't been able to take one, and the only possibility is paying out of pocket, then yes, I will pay for it, rather than not take one at all.

Anyways, I can't believe, in spite of my original post, that this topic turned into an argument over showers.

Thank you for that tutorial gem. But you can double click your soap container, should you ever have to pay for a shower. But then... you don't do that. You and all the guys that are up in arms about paying for showers, and defending showering 1-2 times a week, must not be making any money, or cannot stop your truck, unless you are told when to do so. If that is your style of trucking so be it. Truck on, driver. Truck on. JUST KEEP IT FUNKY! As I am sure you will. LMAO

Nice OP. As a rookie cabbie years ago I learned the hard way that speeding tickets ain't worth it if you plan to keep driving for a living. Didn't realize how immature I was driving. Nowadays I anticipate almost every move the other drivers will make and I get out their way. Not worth battling people and getting worked up. Now I have zero points and not one ticket in over 3 years. Probably the best decision I made was not going to cdl school at that time when I got my cdl permit. I wasn't ready. Thx for that post and maybe some kids will glance at it and keep it in the back of their minds while on the road and make it safer for everyone.

On the shower tip it's pretty alarming to see how fast you were attacked and insulted for being honest. As a cabbie I must shower daily in the summer just to feel refreshed and clean when I get home but when it's cold in the winter there's definitely times when I skip a day because most humans can tell if they are clean or not. If I was in an a/c all day in a truck and never had to get out or get sweaty then I know I'd be on a 2 day schedule most likely too. No way I'm paying for something that's free either. I'd use points and save my cash. That just seems like a no brainer to me.

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVCE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL DRIVERS THAT DO NOT SHOWER; GO 3-4 DAYS WITHOUT SHOWERING; WILL NOT PAY FOR A SHOWER, EVEN IF THEY ARE MALODOROUS, AND HAVE MONEY TO
PAY FOR A SHOWER, BUT WILL NOT; HAVE TRUCKS THAT ARE TOO SLOW TO ALLOW THEM TO SHOWER; AND DRIVE FOR COMPANIES THAT DO NOT ALLOW THEM OR ENCOURAGE THEM TO SHOWER:

There is a product called Dry Bath. It is applied like lotion. Maybe it is cheaper than the cost of a shower. Check it out.

The androids that drive the hover trucks don't need showers.

Wow, I didn't expect to see trolling on this level here. Really makes this place less credible than I thought. Need to lower my expectations I guess. Just the nature of the internet no matter the site. Carry on.

Can't speak for others, but I work for an awesome company that allows me to dictate my own schedule. I choose to shower every other day because of choice, and no other reason. I also don't remember defending showering 1-2 times a week. I personally believe showering that little is unsanitary. I feel confident in saying that the majority of OTR drivers take showers closer to every other day rather than everyday. I shower on average 4 times a week, and since I drive van, I personally find that adequate. If I were flatbed, and had to be outside strapping, and securing my load for hours, it would be a different situation.

On the money front... Due to not having any debt, I'm able to save 85% of my yearly income. When the time comes to buy I truck, I'll be able to do so by paying cash. I appreciate you being concerned with my finances though.

    U mad? HA!

Why are you so sensitive? You're starting to remind me of a chick I know.

Anyways, this topic has gotten out of control, but I'll close by saying this:

If you have to choose between not taking a shower for a week or not killing someone on a road from bad driving habits, I'd rather not kill someone due to bad driving habits.

But then again, if you were in a position to where you have to make a decision between the two, then you're probably driving for the wrong company.

Sure, I'd like to make $1,000+ a week every week that I can, but some things just take priority over that.
