    Hello Everyone,
First of, I want to thank you all for all your great reads you post on here.

I might be accepting my first ever trucking assigment. It's a company out of Florida, running as far north as NY.

    My only worry is:
I have to team with someone else.

Can you share your experiences if you have any driving with a team.

What is the best way to approach a partner that wont shower often?

    Hey there....

I have been team driving with my fiance for the past 2 yrs and it has been pretty good, of couse there are days when it gets a little stressed...I have yet to find out how to slam a sleeper curtain...~laughing hard~..seriously though alot depends on who you team with and how the two of you 'get along'.......

Dealing with someone who does not want to shower too often is difficult, however perhaps you can persuade him/her to have a shower when you do by saying 'hey perhaps we should both grab a shower now seen as we have some spare time cause it maybe a few more days before we get the chance again..?' I think if i was me I would also make sure I had a big bottle of 'frebreeze' and made sure he/she saw me spraying it all around the inside of the truck, hoping he/she will ask why and then I would tell him/her that IMHO he/she should think about about a shower...~lol~

All in all teaming can be fun with the right person..good luck and keep us informed..

kick him out of the truck when its raining and toss him the soap. thats easier than having to run him down if he wont do it voluntarily

I ran team for the first two years of my career. None of it was good. In fact it was so bad I won't even let a trainee ride a day trip with me.

This happened back in the days of cab-overs and 36" berths. We'd be gone for at least a week at a time.

One guy's feet stunk, really bad. Even after a bath his feet smelled loudly. He wrecked (low bridged) on a Thanksgiving eve, and we were done.

The next guy was a drunk with a BBR attitude. I woke up one afternoon at a crab house in Maryland. We were parked, there was an empty six pack under the driver's seat and he was inside at the bar. We were done.

My last partner was as young and dumb as I was. Life was better for a while. I woke up going south on the Jersey pike, running about 85mph with 7,000 gallons of alcohol in the wagon. It was Friday and he was in a hurry to get home. We were done.

I know there are teams that work out, like they were meant for each other. I'll never be part of one because I ain't willing to filter through the debris to find the gem.

I hear alot of scary stories with teaming.

Alot of teams break up due to not being able to stand each other after a few months...

There are some amazing stories about trucking in general, as well as team stories in two books by a trucker called Don McTavish called Big rig : more comic tales from a long haul trucker. I have never laughed as much as I did when I read his books.

My advice is not to do it. Teams only work when the money is going into the same household. If your married, team with your wife. How willing will you be to put your life into the hands of a total stranger?

Teams made of strangers rarely last more then a few months. Don't walk away, run.

    Just my two pennies.

You could always team with a friend also. If you dont have a wife.

Make sure it's a friend you can do without in three months.
