I have a Used MVT truck with them on it. The fuel cost for these trucks are much better than our older ones, but they suck in the hills. On the flat I do better than 8 mpg running under 65. but when I hit PA, NC, TN, and all the hilly states, it drops to under 7mph. closer to 6, what the wheel covers do. Well I have never taken them off to see the difference, but I am always driving different roads also so there would be no good comparison.

I heard that MVT gets rid of their trucks when they start losing fuel mileage and their is always a big demand for their used trucks when they do sale them.
-
I know someone who had a 50 truck fleet all ex-Werner trucks,good trucks hardly ever any trouble. Then he got rid of some of the higher mileage ones and got some 9400i ex-MVT trucks, about 10 of them and they were money pits.
-
I was just going to say that the only positive i can see is they come in stainless so you just have to wash them off and you got shinny wheels instead of polishing out all that alumnium.
I have thought about buying a set of the paintable one's and matching them to the color of my truck but don't want to waste the $$$ if it looks stupid lol
Also, just a side note, I had a level 1 inspection done in CO 2 weeks ago and the DOT officer told me to remove my front hub covers I had on there. He said they were not going to allow them anymore in CO since you cannot chack for a leaking seal on a pre-trip w/o removing them. I honestly think it was just HIM, and not the whole state, but it did make some since to me and I have just kept them off. I did however buy a set of polished hub seals for it

Yeah but whats the rears?? 2.42 or something? remember this truck was speced for MVT's lanes and load.

to answer some of yas here, Yes these trucks are money pits. the Emissions are a pain. and the lanes I run are much more hilly and I am always near Max Gross. My fuel is NOT what they brag about, but it is much better than the 05 379 Pete I drove. but I sure liked the Pete much more!
-
Ya but...it's not a Pete. And remember Weiner man, MVT , Roehl etc. have it all figured out when to trade the unit for maximum benefit.
Weiner man buys the extended warr. and dumps at 350k when the warr. runs out, Pumpkin pushes to 650 - 700 as does JB. It's all about the contract they bought under.
My guy had to turn in our Ryder's at 3 yr / 350k with no smashes and fully functional PLUS guarantee the wholesale value. ( buy up if short )
As you well know efficiency will fade with age so your gal is not going to get the mpg that MVT got when new. 8 is good though !!

I'm getting roughly 7.2-7.3 with my 2006 Century with a 515 Detroit 3.70 rears here's what I've done so far ..
1. Pittsburgh power stack
2. Air Tabs
3. Fleet 1 Air filter
My next investments
1. Drive wheel covers
2. Vented flaps
If the lower last 2 get me even 1/10 I'll save close to 1,000 in fuel a year for a 400-500 total investment I can't see the hurt .. If I hit the 2/10 range I'll be smileing ear to ear ..
fleet 1 told me 2-4/10 on a Detroit with my filter # with a few reported close to 6/10 my gain was roughly in the middle at 3/10 but for a investment of 329.00 ( that included shipping ) I didn't get hurt .
Im not one to promote every little gimmick out there and try to research what I do extensively before I purchase a product but no one can be sure until you try it .
I hope I can eventually get my. Truck up to 7.5-7.6 loaded at 43-44,000 and I'll be thrilled
my current loaded numbers are posted above but here are my other numbers
Bobtail = 11.4-11.8
empty = 8.9 - 9.3
These are 53ft van numbers -
Oh that's driving 59-62 mph if I go to 65 mph my fuel economy drops extensively
From : 7.1 loaded to around 6.5 even 6.4 some cases I've saw my SWEET SPOT I know that's a KR term but anyway it's around 59-60 I do see a small - marginal gain at 58 mph but from 58 to 55 no diffence in my truck at all or not recordable . -
I think that the REAL WHEELS would be the way to go if someone was going to try this type product out .. I think the ones SNI uses look cheap and just not sure that they serve the purpose I've looked at SNI trucks and saw a few ( I do say few ) that are almost flapping around look real loose or look to not work as designed .. The MVT trucks I've saw look like a more sturdy application and look better also
