This happens from time to time. That's why you should try other companies also. Putting your eggs in one basket is rarely the best plan. Take Heartbreaker's advice and try Schneider in W. Texas. ALSO, apply with Nabors and Key Energy. If you have some flexibility about where you live/work you will get hired as a newbie.

doesn't seem right,,,, somethings fishy here??? what about "CONTAINERS" not enough work there??

I see Schneider has bumped up the pay for West Texas drivers stating you can make up to $85K. I listed one of the examples below. Also hearing some rumors about the Victoria account. They have been working on a pay raise and also hearing they are trying to get a contract running to wells. Right now we only load at LACTs.

Recently I had a friend ask me what work a crude hauler does to load/unload the oil so today I would like to cover that...
After our truck is inspected to make sure we have no heel (leftover oil from the last unload) in the tanker we pull up to a LACT and prepare to load the oil. The steps are fairly simple and the order can be changed around somewhat but for the most part is goes like this...
1) Chalk the truck's tire
2) Hook up the ground to the tanker
3) Place a drip pan under the tankers external valve, remove the valve cover, hook up the customer's 4" hose valve to the tanker (this automatically opens the external tanker valve)
4) Remove 2" valve cover, hook up the customer's 2" vapor recovery hose to the tanker
5) Open the vapor recovery valve located on the 2" hose next to the dome lid, open the vapor recovery valve located next to the 2" hose connection at the back of the tanker, and open the vapor recovery valve next to the customers intake line (3 valves total)
6) Open the tanker's internal valve
7) Go to the LACT keypad, key in data, push start and open the main valve from the oil tank to begin loading tanker
These steps are for operating our older tankers. A lot of them were used OTR ( I have pulled one that was built when Regan was in office!) and converted to haul the crude. The new Brenner tankers we have begun to receive (one was built 2 weeks after I started my job here) have digital gages, all the connections and valves are located in one central area of the tanker, and they can haul more oil. Did I mention they have baffles and an air ride suspension!!
Unloading the tanker is done by a similar procedure but we don't attach a vapor recovery line. It usually takes about 25 min to load the tanker and about 35 min to unload the tanker, although I have had wait times up to 50 min while loading and unloading.

You sound like you might be a recruiter for Schneider.

Thanks for the compliment! I'm really just a driver who ...
a) likes my job and enjoys helping people find work
b) figured out a way to drive, get home every night, not go OTR, and make more money than someone who works OTR
c) enjoys blogging and social media... I have a twitter account: https://twitter.com/#!/CrudeOilTrucker -
I went by Schneider's office here in Victoria the other day and they are still willing to take newbie drivers. They have a print out on how to apply and it states...
"Oil field work now available. New grads welcome. Victoria, Corpus Christi, Midland, Laredo, and Odessa TX. 2 weeks free in hotel during transition. Relocation $ available for Experienced drivers. Tuition reimbursement $6000. Must be able to acquire Hazmat, tanker and TWIC."
I've also asked around and found out right now they are looking to hire about 20 more drivers for Victoria and 25 more drivers for the BP accounts.Odessa Bound Thanks this.
