Look at the top there's a docked thread on insurance. Many brokers won't work with carriers insured by OOIDA. If you have no experience, progressive is likely your only option and is very expensive.

What type of insurance are you looking for? Collision, bobtail, auto liability, cargo? If you lease to a carrier you only need bobtail or unladen liability. If you finance your truck then you will need collision. Some carriers offer bobtail and collision. You can get both from OOIDA or do a search for commercial truck insurance and probably come up with some names. It is difficult to find insurance without at least a year or two experience. There are only a handful of insurance companies that will insure class 8 trucks.

www.cmbrown.net ask for Gabe. He will spend all the time you need explaining what ever you need to know. Even if you are in a state that he can't insure.

OOIDA is not accepted by LS and some others that have rating requirements (they are un-rated). And can be on the expensive side.

Theres northland, carolina casualty, progrssive, zurick america and a few more. Best thing to do is find an agent that deals with truck insurance and have them price it out for you as some companys will not deal with you alone.

there are several independants in my home town that can write truckers insurance. Great West Casuality is the largest commercial insurance company. My local agent beat OOIDA by a couple hundred dollars a year. Good Luck
