The Aussie probably improved some in the interior upholstery and cab insulation, but yea, there's too much plastic on the walls and the dash still looks like the old cheap plastic.

in last year some trucks adopted new trend from cars , mat color without effect and black rims some even have black painted alcoa

new actros is way too much expensive basic model with smallest cab cost 105000€ without tax this is 420hp narrow low cab ......

iveco prices are in range of 60000-65000€

and interior quality of new actros is not that quality like it should be for this price

for my market iveco is quite good choice not as bad as renault but problem is in downtimes they are very sensitive on electronics

I wanna get a drive of the new actros before I pass judgement, I really like how they look and I'm really interested about the Detroit engine, I just hope they done something about that EPS gearbox, that's the biggest thing to keep me away from them, not too keen on their old fully auto's either, reversing them was a nightmare when u weren't used to them !

That r500's interior is very nice, sure does have leather work like a bently, expensive I'd imagine? The standard ones are quiete nice anyway but that's something special! Any pics of the ceiling?

Truck development is not always going forward. I think you are one of those who like all these I-Shifts, traction controls etc. that don't work here when it's winter. And wheelbase has nothing to do with comfort, it's just american trucker myth, just did 1 trip with long wheel base rigid FH Volvo, air front hit very hard in potholes and swinging cab airsuspension didn't help either.

K100 would be nice if it had suspension. And if it had better ergonomics and...

I've been to Ireland, the roads are smooth if you compare to Russia. Russians don't buy Toplines because the badly designed cab suspension can't take the beating. They mostly have Highlines with coil springs and 3 leaf parabolics at front axle because that's the most comfortable option on their roads. Cab air suspension would bottom out and 2 leaf front would bottom out.

A little scientific approach. Some ortopedist came to a conclusion that older drivers have less back problems because they had to use their muscles to take the beating of bad roads and almost inexistent suspension. In todays trucks with 3 suspensions on top of each other you lose the feeling of road and it still hits but suddenly because you don't know which way it is next bouncing. Hits are softer but they still break your discs because you keep your back too relaxed.

 

28 mm 2 leaf springs like in your 144 will bottom out but change them to 34mm's, by far the most comfortable option for sprung suspensions, 3 leaf are too hard, that's probably why cab bushings are wearing out prematurely. We have both long and short versions of r620 6*4's in the yard, the long wheel base like I drive is far more comfortable than the shorter ones, same trucks, same heavy duty sprung suspension but the long one rides very smooth!

Scania offered a 2 point cab suspension for fleet trucks in the uk about 10 years ago as a cost saving exercise for big fleets, what happened next is they got sued multiple times for back pains, maybe it's just a case of drivers being spoilt nowadays but the day of 2 point cab suspension is over.

 

it is probably not expensive since it is polish

look better there is no chrome frame around air vent opens and look at steering wheel buttons and you will see plastic , usually those pieces are metal on most of scanias

until now i saw only 2 r series with plastic frame around air vents



about cabs now here scania gives you topline for same price as highline usually difference on our market is 2000€

2x32mm for 7.1 or 7.5t capacity

3x29mm up to 9t

and 4x28

also offers 7x15 for 6.7t capacity and 9x15 for 9ton capacity those are multi leaf trapezial suspension here all have 2x32

 

I'm almost certain that the original 144 came out with 2*28, I remember we had Scania change them cos they were too soft, constantly bottomed out I think the replacements were 30's, all our 164's rode on 2*34's I thought but maybe it was 2*32's, I dont have the best memory for these kinda things!
