What flatbed co. would be best least hassle/highest pay for a lease by a noobie to o/o? I've got 9 yrs company driver xp, so figured it was time to give leasing a shot.

Why do you want to lease? There are many people with well over 9 years experience who don't, and won't.

Az, that's a good question. I've been considering leasing for a long time when one guy tells me you can't make money, and next guy makes bank. I wanna know which of the 2 I am. Leasing would be a knew challenge after crossing the country dozens of times there's nothing knew anymore. Maybe just the jump from box to flat would give a sufficient change, idk. So I'm weighing my options and trying to go where the money is. I'm tired of 400 dollar paychecks and thousands of miles and hrs of sitting through NE bs cause of forced dispatch from a-hole dispatchers that only care about their bonuses!.. And once you've driven for one company you've driven for em all, maybe I get more respect from the boss when he's me.

From the point of "I'm tired of", just imagine if you had to deal with that and have the expence of owning\ leasing a truck. In most cases it's the same hassle as being a company driver but with bigger payments.

You should really have it thought out as to why you want to lease. For instance, my wife and I are about to begin teaming at Central and are leaning toward leasing. Why? It's about some of the little things that will make life on the road more enjoyable. We'll get a fridge in the truck and an apu. I need a diet of fresh fruits/veggies and lean meats because my blood pressure is very salt sensitive. Leasing will allow us to bobtail/go slightly off route when needed to hit a walmart or truck stop near a grocery store to keep the trucked stocked with healthy food.

Do we hope to make more leasing then driving company? Well sure but if we make the same or even a little less but get to enjoy ourselves more and stay healthy it will have been well worth it. Leasing is a very case by case kind of thing.

That sounds like a good reason Risen. Honestly though, the main thing for me is money. I've got other plans outside of a truck, so I wanna hit it hard for maybe nother 6 months, then hopefully be able to get out and finish college. So, guess my question should be what company is best to make the most money and company or lease?

If you're only looking at 6 months don't waste your time. There's no lease that short and most would be bad to try only planning that long. Besides there are three types of lease drivers. Two kinds will fail the third will succeed. The first one is all about the money, they will be unhappy and will quit. The second wants to drive fast, they will spend to much on fuel and will fail. The last wants to own a truck period. And realizes some weeks they might not get a paycheck if they don't work but yet still have a payment to make so they plan ahead. They also know that even if they made the same or a bit less in the end they own a truck. That person will succeed.

Only company I've heard of for short/shorter leases is USX, pretty sure they do 1 year.... but 6 month will be hard/impossible to find.

The shortest lease I have heard of is 1 year. If you do 6 months, what's another 6. I think 6 months to a year will give you the chance to learn the in's and out's of the business. Thats what I'm hoping for since I'm only a little shy of 2 months in.
