Alberta oilfield driving jobs

The implication of the US rule changes has to do with removing OFE status from some classes of vehicles that currently use the permit. I have heard some rumblings that similar might be contemplated here. But who knows. http://www.overdriveonline.com/story-in-ny-times-tars-oil-field-exemption/

 

I am in Saskatchewan but after looking it up it seems the same. I guess I never cared much as all our loads pretty much qualify, as even our battery to pipeline transfers have a wellhead at the battery to dispose of waste water.

Most of that stuff in the states concerns crew trucks driving after 14hrs, which is absurd to apply to us. And the OFE clearly states that it doesn't apply to interprovince or cross border driving so those transfers are under normal rules anyway. but from the looks of it when it was brought up in the states it got slammed right back and the OFE didn't change at all, which is sad as truly GODI and Fatigue management are good things to require for it. If nothing else people like Sherwin Peterson need a job like teaching it to keep them out of politics!

I'm not looking myself, but maybe you could tell the folks a bit more about the job? Would you consider a new driver for example if they had a clean abstract and demonstrated some natural ability on their road test, or do you have a certain experience requirement? What kind of hours would they be working etc...
