yes it is you resolvability as a driver to make sure the trucks are road worthy
how ever if you have told your boss and they haven't fixed it and you dont have any
paper work showing you told them the buck stops with you but if you have proof
they cant say they didnt no about it if you have more than one page it show cops
and that the boss new about them but didnt do anything

Just the boss knowing about it dosn't really mean shizit! It all comes back to YOU the DRIVER!! You are the one that did the pretrip, YOU are the one that saw the dry wheel hub,YOU are the one that knew it needed repaired and YOU wrote it down, YOU are the one that turned that key and drove away, and YOU are the one that's getting handcuffed at the scene where that set of duels came off and killed someone. Your boss is getting sued, YOUR sitting in jail! NUFF SAID?

Perhaps so long as the driver tried to cooperate with the carrier to get the repairs done. The driver is not unlike a "manager" of the truck, it is up to him to either see to it that the [unsafe vehicle] repairs get done and give the carrier an opportunity or two to fix them, or drive for somebody else.

Read the daily inspection report on any log book page and note the part about the mechanics sign-off statement and maintenance action ... until you get a signature from a mechanic on this, you won't have much of a leg to stand on. If this is a chronic issue where you work, i'd seriously consider going somewhere else to work after rationally discussing these matters with a terminal supervisor.

I should also add if you want to keep that notebook fine but you still need to make the same notes on your DVIR. If you have a marker light out and get stopped haveing it noted may get you out of a ticket. But if you write up something like an air leak or brake chamber thats dangling there expect a ticket and to be put OOS. You can also expect a one on one with the boss explaining why road service had to be sent out. I'll bet it comes back on .... ready for this? ...... YOU THE DRIVER

A wise man once told me, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law.

As a D.O.T. officer told my husband when he asked... it's HIS responsibility to drive a safe truck. Sure writing everything down can be of some help in certian things.
It is HIS ( or your) choice of driveing it or calling road service. Company says drive it or loose your job... s'up to you, which is more important, your life ( if the issue is that bad) the points you may or may not have your DMV report , the ticket you might get or your job.

My husband has quit 2 different jobs over safety issues on their trucks, that they refused to fix, but still wanted him to drive.
