So i've got a kodiak c4500 duramax/allison auto it's a custom built truck with a double bunk sleeper, it's got a 13,500lb single axle and i've added on a auxiliary 115gal fuel tank for long trip's. I'm looking to get a mini 5 or even a 6 car trailer but i was being told i would need a CDL because i would be way over 24,001 and all the trailer's i've looked at are right at 24,000 GVWR and i was told any trailer over 10,001lb's required a class A.
So i study on the computer go to the dmv take the computer test and get my CDL-AP that's good until next yr, problem is this is only good for driving a class 8 truck with an experienced driver well my truck is only a class 3 at best. So where do i go from here i mean i don't want to go and spend money on a trailer if im not going to be licensed to pull it this, could i take the driving exam with my truck and a car trailer ?
Looking to get into car transport but need info

For starters, anything over a 3 car, you'll be underpowered.

As long as the trailer is over 10,000Lbs it is a Class A Combo (If the total is over 24,001Lbs). I took the test with a Class B Kenworth Tandem Axle roll back with a heavy 10,000Lbs+ equipment trailer which = Class A Combo! Looks like you need to look at the gross combination weight?

Get your CDL, class A, and get some training. Most companies will not bring you on board with out some experience.
