I'm sorry if I haven't been posting like I should, there's lots of studying and home work I need to do in between. Well I'm done with day 3 of my Roehl interview.. That the way they see it, your on an 8 day interview which is phase 1.
So far day 2 was great. Learned a lot of information about trip planning and logging your time.they gave us a big log book to start working our time in. After that we went out to their training trucks to so a pretrip and to get a little driving in. Not much driving but every little bit counts. We get assigned a instructor that we stay with 3 students until the end of phase 1.
Today was day 3 and a lot more driving and backing skills was done. We also received all our information for our voicemail box and Alabama steel roll certification login information today. We have to ge that cert by Saturday or else we don't pass. The trainer we have has a chip on his shoulder but no biggey.
One thing I found out is they won't let you take split breaks. Which I thought that was a bummer. Some of there policies are;
- zero tolerance for harassing, lewd crewed behavior or conduct
- zero tolerance horsing around and not applying your self
Student expectations;
- apply yourself completely every day
- study and take notes thughout the process
- yearn to learn
- attendance isn't a guarantee to success
Pretty much you have to earn the position of driver around here.
They use the safe seven
- slow down
- stay back
- know whats happening
- yield to others
- expect the expected
- prepare to drive
- reduce the risk
Well have a good night and I'll get back to y'all late

Nice Post dude! I am looking at Melton Trucking and I can tell you your training sounds better and the training pay is better!

We're to start off, well I'm having a great time. I'm officially hired and a team member of Roehl tramsport. Friday came along and that was evaluation day. We had to go out with the same instructor and drive for 2 hrs. He didn't say much but that is what he did with me the whole time I was with him. I guess I had enough training from my previous company I worked for. If you want to check out that thread it is My experience with the Big Blue Screw.
I was rattled after my evaluation, I didn't think I did to good at all. I was even thinking of just going to the van division. But when I talked to the instructors they said at least go though the weekend and get the flatbed training and see from there. Then if I liked it at least go though training with a trainer and make a decision from that point. I'm glad i didn't just quit the flatbed training cause I loved the training they gave me.
The weekend was nothing but hands on training with flatbeds. Sat we did some 45 degree backing and some s curve backing. Then there we started on breaking down all the training trailers that were loaded with all types of combination loads. When we were done we broke up in teams and worked together to secure everything the Roehl way. The Roehl way is basically DOT plus one. So say if the regulation for a load was only two straps with the DOT then Roehl wants you to put an extra strap on to make sure it secure enough.
Sunday came along and that was some more breaking down and securing. After that we started on tarping the loads with coils on them. It's really not that hard to do and they taught us a easy way to tarp, which is called the Superman or a cape. They said there's a thousand different ways to tarp but that one is really the fastest.
Monday pretty much was a relaxed day with some paper work and getting our hats and pins. We basically were welcomed into the Roehl family. It's a great filling of accomplishment to finally be done with the interview process. Most of us hot a trainer assigned to us but there were a few, myself included did not have a trainer available. Most of the time when that happens we can still get to ride with a local trainer to get cargo securment down pat. But if this happens we still have to wait for a national trainer to get our 8 - 13 days of training.
Today is Tuesday and it was our off day. We basically did a 34 hr reset to get our hours back for our training. We did a lot of running around to get stuffed squared away for our on the road training. Locally I was able to get a national trainer cause I'm ready to test out and get my truck.
I hear the best place to test out is in Marshfield WI, cause they have all the new trucks waiting for their drivers. That's the place were i want to test out and hopefully I'll get a pretty new Prostar to drive around.
Powell I'm leaving at 4 in the morning and I need to get some sleep so until next time , wish me luck....Lonesome Thanks this. -

Hi,
I was just reading your posts. I have talked to this company about working for them. I'm not sure how long you've actually been working for them, so would you be so kind as to let me know, and how things are working out for you? I currently deliver RVs, trucks and buses for a transport company, and was wondering if it would be worth getting my class A and starting a trucking career.
Thanks,
P.Kash6972 Thanks this. -
If you would like to put me down as a referral then my name is Kori Knisley driver code Knik. Thank you, have a good day and good luck.
