Its only temporary till I get my trailer.
I hear about drivers making them work. Can you actually make a load out work in your favor. Without rushing to get trailer to its destination on time and with little or no DH on the end. Or do you just keep with loaded trailers/equipment trailers. Where to go and not go.

Grab a load out trailer run with it for a few weeks, or months, then deliver it. Repeat.
SHC Thanks this. -
I've done a few power only loads moving empty/loaded trailers from point a to b when they paid good. I would never go through the hassle of a load out. You better find a return load from the area first or you may find yourself bobtailing hundreds of miles. I don't think you could keep busy doing it unless you found a dedicated gig for a trailer manufacturer.

Look at JB Hunt, Schneider, and other carriers. They have a power plus program that you can use to get back to your next load, pulling their loads on their trailers to a railhead or out of a railhead to customer. With JB they have a separate department for this. sometimes you can use their trailers to haul your loads for a rental fee if it works in getting their trailer back to where they want it.

JB Hunt, Schneider and PTL have PO programs for other Carriers to subcontract that don't pay very much and you would be better off leased on somewhere than run for those cheap freight haulers.
-
JB Hunt, Schneider and PTL said they do not have these programs
-
What did you ask them specifically? They don't deliver trailers. They haul freight. I'd be amazed if any of them quit leasing o/o. That's about all JB seems to do anymore.

I just got a call from JB Hunt wanting me to pull their trailers. The guy talked up the rate like it was the best in the business a big whopping $1.60 per mile for all miles. I just let him talk as I was not busy that day and figured if he was talking to me he wasn't bothering some other poor soul trying to make it out here. When he got done I told him that he might think that is a good rate but I average around $2 per mile for all miles just running loads from a load board and why in the heck would I want to take a pay cut and hung up. These company's you lease to that are paying you around $1.40 per mile are making a killing off of you.

What company is PTL ?

I asked them if they have power only loads. They said HUH!!!. Explained I have my truck pulling your trailer with your freight my authority. You can put your truck on with JB and like Thompson said. A whopping $1.60.
CRE, Conway, rarely has one.
No I will not go on with their authority. Like you say $2 every mile decent I could live with it . I like to get $2.60 and up with my trailer minus
company cut. Like I said my trailer has issues getting worked out.
I keep getting calls from JB. Said they have a straight truck making about 800 a week. Home every night. Glass and misc. to new stores n such. Sometimes you may have to help unld. I believe every time. $30 unld pay. I let them go on and asked. When I do get home how much time is that. 10hrs. BS you say. 10hrs is not enough time to get out of truck sleep and get back in. Sleeping in the bunk gets me more free time. I don't touch freight. Unless your paying $100 per hr. I don't even help you figure out how to get it off when you have no forklift for less than $50. DET runs at low end $75 after 2hrs.
(Its in the contract when they send load agreement. I send them det. contract. and yes I collect.
Mostly its refineries or something like that. 1yr held up once there. A couple yrs back. My lawyer went after someone $400 for 2hrs, plus lawyer cost. They settled out of court.
Had 1, 20' long. Fork couldn't grab it. They had a truck with a boom on it. They picked it up 4' fork on other end. I pulled out. They set it down then fork could grab it.
