Ok. Call me simple. I was browsing your thread and so now Im curious, why do you have to close your tandems on a flatbed? My common sense thinking wonders why you cant pull it as a spread axle like every other flatbed in the country? We have flats and steps that are all spreads and we dont have sliding axles.

overweight on tandems should be a hint
-
Yeah, but he was overweight because he slid his axle from the spread position to a closed position. In my 17yrs of pulling flats Ive never heard of any laws stating you cant run a spread axle thru a state. So that is my confusion. Why cause yourself a headache by running that way?
-
Because it was a 53' trailer. If it was a 48' it would've been legal. Kingpin laws are what got me.
-
Was unaware kingpin law applied to flats. Learn something new I guess.
-
They apply when its a 53' trailer. 48' dont have to worry about it. I had a 53' stepdeck, so I was under the law
-
glad you got your 48 back load should of been on that from the beginning since the trlr was already there
-
Exactly. Wasted an entire day of my time...

i know the feeling

If they wouldve llistened to me, it wouldntve been so bad. But of course, no one believed me when I said it wouldnt work.
