I truly want to idle, but the ticket and Walmart notifying SNI stories have me shut down. I started this thread because I was scared, and wanted to know how enforced the laws and rules were. I hate being in trouble, so I will suffer. Next time, at least, I will get myself to a TS and idle there. I wouldn't be as nervous to idle there.
The humidity went down, along with the temp a bit. I put my window screens up, dressed down to just my undergarments, and put my fan right on me. I will survive until the sun goes down, and things start to cool off more.

I haven't had any problems with Wal-mart in the south. But, they will tow your truck if you leave it.

I would at least ask still, all they can say in no and you will still be in the same boat.Better a no than not knowing at all.Female Driver and x#1 Thank this.

I don't think WalMart employee would actually be upset with you idling, I would worry more about the local residents in houses calling in and complaining. that kind of leaves them with no other option. But if I were you, and this WalMart was in a strip mall area without houses around, I would go ahead and idle. Most people won't care during the daytime, just make sure to cut the truck off about 7-8pm because that is when they might start complaining.
As said before, I believe it is illegal to idle in Maryland, but if it is hot and humid, I really doubt an officer will bother you unless your truck is very loud. And then it would probably take a phone call from someone living nearby to warrant them to both you....Female Driver Thanks this. -

I run Wal Mart dedicates and they do have a no idling policy. If you feel you need to idle than it would be appropriate to talk to the store manager and get the okay. That's what I do when I go to their stores and it has always benefited me. I don't idle that much but I will to be comfortable, besides i'm the one paying for my fuel.
