I ran across a guy in Rocky Mt, NC at the Coke place that was just out of prison. He was driving pretty poor equipment and was making a salary of $600/wk before taxes. He was in for assault with a deadly weapon, traffic/dist of drugs and breaking&entering. Told me he was pretty messed up at the time but straightened himself out and was just glad to get a job working for a company that was willing to take a chance on him even if the money was low. This company, I forget who it was, hired all ex-cons. Paid them little money but gave them a chance to get working again. Good for him to realize that he needed to prove himself.

He is pretty lucky to get any job with a rap sheet like that, but I'm glad there are trucking companies out there willing to help people out. I only have a few days till I head out and I have to say I'm pretty excited!

yeah, he was lucky and he knew it. He sounded like he was on the right path. Sometimes it just takes longer for the lightbulb to go off.

As I stated earlier. I am treated very well here at Carolina Cargo and I know others who will tell the same story.
There are some real problem children here who drive for them and they will treat you depending on your behaviour.
I have seen the Safety manager pick someone up from the bus station in Charlotte and give him a ride into the yard.
When drivers come in and need the truck serviced they get to stay at the nearby Motel 6.
Many drivers who come here don't have 20 bucks in their pockets and no transportation, but they have the desire to succeed in an industry that at first will turn them away.

    Bumper Thanks this.
