This has been a helpful thread. I'm about to the point of calling recruiters and schools to start making decisions. I've been reading a lot, and thinking about questions for some time, but just now decided to write down what I've got so far, some of which I just stole from reading this thread....

    Tuition reimbursement plan?
Average miles per week for first year? Hoping for 2500+
How old is the oldest equipment? Tractors and trailers
How many types of equipment and loads? Van, reefer, flatbed, hazmat, multi, tanks?
How long can I stay out? (maximum! I’m not concerned with getting home)
Which areas/routes most common? Where are the main terminals? (if applicable)
    Electronic logs?
    Power inverters OK/provided? Size?
    Reimbursement of parking fees?
Layover pay for no runs? How often does that happen?
Experience required for the trainers? Trainer motives? $$ vs Safety? Are they training or teaming? Trouble for asking to switch?
    Trouble for picky inspections/maintenance?
How many drivers make it a year?
    How many drivers/dispatcher?
Can I talk to some drivers?
Trajectory of the company? How many drivers/trucks today vs last year? 5 years ago?
CAN YOU PUT THAT IN WRITING?

    Moe Rhonic Thanks this.

I'd ask, "What do I do when it is 107 degrees and I'm not supposed to idle?"

They will all for the most part tell you "newer equipment". They will all tell you 2500+ miles. Staying out as long as you want. None will put anything in writing.

Some of other question will be more company specific such as what and where they run, company policy etc...

As a newbie , the most important thing for you is safety, and keep a good record, after one year , if your record is clean, you can think about making money. trust me and you will learn.

I wouldn't care if they put it in writing, I wouldn't trust it either way.
