Spent all day on the pad doing backing manuevers, 3 trucks going and 3 guys, kind of nice. The heat is about killing Woody. More backing tommorow and our first skill test. We might be losing 1 guy in our class so it might be just dmgabe and myself for the last week and a half.
-
Didn't get a chance to come visit with you guys today, but saw the trucks out there and didn't see anyone knocking over barrels so it looks like you guys have the hang of it. Whats up with the 3rd guy in your class?
-
He's just having a real hard time picking stuff up. Its not for lack of trying on anyones part, the instructors have really worked hard to help him. He is talking about quitting so we will see.

We had a girl in Cville that didn't make the cut..she just flat couldn't get the hang of backing.

Well it is just dmgabe and my self now, the 3rd went home this morning. We got to go out on the road this morning in the T2000, about an hour of road time apiece. It was a huge change going to the road truck, that truck is a whole lot tighter than the other training trucks.
It was a little nerve racking at first but all the motorists where very supportive. A bunch kept telling me I was #1 !! And I didn't know it but in Ohio looking at a driver trainee with a look of terror on your face means "Good Job" !
No it wasn't bad at all, it was alot different than driving the Millis 500 but a little road construction on I75 is a good place to learn lane control.
We both passed our first backing skills test today it has been nice getting so much drive time. Pretty much just road time now. -

It was his choice. After having basically 1 on 1 instruction for 7 days he still couldn't shift, or keep the truck running for that matter. Backing was completely out of the question unless the instructor was beside him telling him exactly what to do with the steering wheel. And that was even straight line backing. He just wasn't cut out for it. But it wasn't for lack of trying on the instructors part, they went above and beyond to try to help him.

Hey Coop, did you get nasty weather today?
-
No it rained for about 20 minutes and that was it. Barely enough to knock the dust down.
