Meg, your going to get many opinions with that question. No one engine is perfect. It is like the ford/chevy, bud/miller etc question.
I liked the old 1693 Cat.It was a good motor. Great pulling, long lasting, rugged motor. It had drawbacks too. No engine brake, expensive to work on etc. But it gets my vote. -
Lol! I can appreciate that. Do you prefer the older models? Or new?

I've heard a lot of good things about cat motors. Expensive, I can definitely see though.

And the M88A1.
It was actually the engine that started it's life as a Merlin gasser in the P51 mustang as well as the P38 with the Allison V12 and morphed into the V-12 diesel. -
I've gotten this answer a lot! I think my boyfriend would say the same.

i had a cummins bgIII once, very dependable engine. but then i got my first yellow engine and never looked back!!
