depends on the company. our heavy haul trucks are 13's while the rest of the fleet is either 10 speed or a few autos here and there.

Most fleets opt for 9 speeds and 10 speeds. Some of the 9 speeds are the "convertible" transmission that with a few parts added at resale time will make it into a 13 speed.

18 spd here never touched a 10 learned on an 8 and moved right up to 18 never drove a 13 until yesturday when i got this spare truck

10 speeds at my company although almost everyone shifts them like they were 8, skipping 1st and 6th. Have driven a 13 speed also, not much different, just have the splitter.

The ones we use are 15's.

It will vary from one company to another, and there are several companies where it varies from truck to truck.

There are the following trannies out there....
old days: 3x4, 4x4, 5x4 5x5
today: 8, 9, super 9, 10, straight 10, 13, 15, 18.
if im wrong, im sure the ole timers will correct me...
