I agree that truckers communicating road info of all types is a good thing, but a guy who studied for (& apparently passed) a cdl dmv test ought to know when his load is over axle -- let alone a guy who has been otr for 6 months. If his overhang was too great for maryland I'd have some sympathy, but with soooo much to learn&know in trucking, I feel a guy like the OP isn't going to do the profession justice (not only doesnt he know the most basic of trucking regs - he also blames others for his incompetence)CAXPT Thanks this.

Extremely well said!CAXPT and nicholas_jordan Thank this.

I am not telling you what to care about. My point was that the folks here, with millions more miles than I, know exactly why anyone wants to know if the scales are open.

Once upon a time, one of our drivers rolled over with a propane trailer, sharp curve, didn't know it was that sharp. 2 days later I went thru the same area, Texas state Bear pulls me over, tells me to follow him to a small private scale (somewhere in Kermit Tx.) I told him I had'nt even loaded yet, but we scaled it anyway.
Pmracing and airforcetoo Thank this. -
Yeah, you know why I'm asking if the scales are open. Hey, maybe I just want to know if I can pull out into the left lane and pass this 3 mile long unbroken line of slow trucks that are puttering along in the right lane in case the scale is open because everyone is being an arrogant ####### and refusing to give a straight answer to an honest question. So like I said, if you can't say something nice like your mama told you to, turn your radio off or at least stay off of the channel so you don't walk all over someone else with more manners and common sense than you.

we run TOTALLY LEGAL ALL THE TIME....we have NOTHING to hide...i just dont like crossing the scales...if they are in just the "right mood" they are gonna "find" something wrong....i am not putting down the DOT, they have a job to do, but lets face it, some of them are ummmm not nice, shall we say??!! its kinda like going to the doctor...dont like doing that either....
