Yes they are, somehow they keep them in good shape and working daily.
-
They are a tough ol' truck, stay on top of the maintenance and they'd last forever, well built but very heavy!

really I hate to work on TGA and TGX.... wiring is thin, hard to see marking (figures). someone smart connected dozens of negative wires in battery box and gremlins are there! corroded brown wires! YES! ZBR unit is used for lightning, like LCM in Volvo, and it is weal, some overvoltage ore short circuit and I have to work with solder station!
EBS by Knorr! Yep, like on Volvo cabovers, BUT thinner the Volvo wiring harness! ECAM - electronically controlled air dryer + tank valves! Crazy box!!!!
Engine - yep - Common rail, powerfull, good fuel milage, till it is not too cold and fuel is low sulfur. Combination of bad fuel and cold weather kills injectors, DBV valve and other stuff! (Maxxforce owners know, it is the same engine), but in EU it is availabe with ADVANCED EGR + PM-Kat (DPF) + DEF (SCR). EGR blocked with ash, DPF wont regen., SCR frozen - yep - last winter kills MAN engines easily!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I'd vote for Volvo and Mercedes (but not MP4) -
it looks like we're heading towards a world of hurt with all this crazy pollution control crap....also too darn much electronics and wires in this new trucks!
-
the straight truck i sow it last weak between little rock,ar and west memphis on i-40 it was driving on opposite direction .i'm gest curios is somebody selling them in the us .

What is with the thin wires in the harness's?
They are designed with only the thought of the need to carry electrical signals.
They forget to include mechanical and corrosion issues.
You have to factor those in even if it means over designing by 2000% from an electrical perspective.
My DAF trucks have similar issues if operated on bad roads.Last edited: Jul 27, 2012
