Every driver on here take a long hard look at these two photo's. This is my girlfriends cousin, she was T-boned by a big truck at a stop sign day before yesterday . She had her 4 month old son in the car with her at the time. Both are OK only minor injuries. This is what the results are when a big truck hits a car , even at slow speeds.
Everybody look at this ! (disturbing pictures)

I know these pics are very confronting and graphic but I want everyone to just appreciate the damage we can do if we are careless in our trucks. Like all of us I see the traffic accidents and wrecks on the highways daily and sometimes I think i just put it out of my thoughts and carry on but this one really hits hard being that its family and involves a big truck as well. I dont actually know the entire particulars of the crash, who was at fault etc but blame is not much consolation if someone is killed. Please everyone be carefull and take care out there on the road.

You leave out some details.
Like, who was at fault?
Just yesterday I came to a 4-way stop, and I had stopped fully as the car to my left was still slowing.
As I started to cross the intersection the driver raced across, and almost hit me.
Female, by the way.
If we had made contact it would have impacted her car just that way - a t-bone. It would have been on the passenger side, however.
I'm glad she and her baby are OK.kw9's rock, skibum_63 and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
Like I said above , I am not sure of the particulars. I am not really concerned with fault or blame , just want this to highlight the need for us to be carefull. I wont even speculate on what happened as I dont know the details but its a near tradgedy regardless of who was technically at fault according to the traffic laws. I was reading an article in a canadian trucking magazine a few weeks back about the effect on commercial drivers of being involved in fatal accidents. All said that regardless of fault they never got over the event and some had issues to this day about events from 20 years ago. Even if the truck driver in this case was not at fault I doubt it will change the pyscological impact this has no doubt had on him allready. I for one didnt for a moment think " What SOB did this" I just thought " thank the big man upstairs that they are ALL ( trucker as well) ok". If that trucker is at fault then I truly hope he can come to terms with what happened and count himself lucky he didnt kill anybody . And if the girl was then I hope that she is more attentive and learns from her mistake. I certainly think all involved have enough to cope with physically and mentally regardless of who was at fault.NavigatorWife and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.

Didn't need to see that.Back in the 90's before I got My CDL, MY wife and I were hit by a big truck in an 85' Nissan sentra.(twice by the same truck)You learn what inertia, from a large vehicle can do, even as the first tap from the truck only made a dent the size of a dime.(as we were doing 70+mph sideways on the freeway(101 s/b at Liberty Canyon off ramp)The second Hit was against the drivers door.I had to make the choice to fight the inertia and stay on the freeway, maybe flying off a bridge,or going down the offramp I passed embankment full of beavertail cactus.Luckily I chose the second one,and we were able to wire the door shut and drive the car home.
Yes it took my trainer time to get me to go up to speed around traffic and not be nervous when I was training.'I'm glad the family is allright, but yes, Ive hand first had experience. -
I understand the frustration we all feel when 4 wheelers do stupid things around big trucks or just blatantly disregard the road rules. We all see and deal with it multiple times a day. But fault or not our trucks can cause major damage in even a minor fender bender. I know I will be a little more carefull from now on after this news.

Coming back from the valley this am in my wife's beetle I had a day cab with a tri axel float so close to my rear bumper I could only see grill, I saw him coming and was 15 above the limit trying to stay ahead of him, it's 2 lane and no passing zone in this area. That man will eventually cost someone a lot of money and headaches.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I had no idea that if I smashed into another vehicle that there would be damage and potentially cause injuries or death! Learn't me something new for sure. Thanks for posting.
