I've been reading online about three days now and commented on a thread so I figured I need to introduce myself! My names Lucian and I'm trying to head out for the 08/07/12 Prime training class. I've read a lot about schools and training so unless something falls thru, I've made my mind up on Prime. A little about me..... 31 single guy from Alabama that would like to get out and see a little of this country. I've alway been fascinated by trucking and come from a trucking family so I know it's a harder life but I'm willing to put in what I want to get out of it. I'm open to any advice, all I know is what I've read here and what I've been told by family. Thanks everyone for sharing all your stories and knowledge on here. It's helped a lot!

Welcome to the trucking family. You made a good choice with prime. I have worked many companies and prime is a good company. Good luck!

Are you going under the 600 dollar a week paid training? What are the details and pay afterward?

The way I understand the money is.... Bus ticket there or .10 a mile if you find your way. You have to have $100 cash when you get there to enter the program. I think that's prolly either going to the recruiter or to recoup their bus ticket if you get sent home. First four day you stay there and eat free. Then on the road with an instructor 3-4 weeks where you aren't making any money! They will front you $200 a week to live on if you need and you repay $25 a week once you start making money. After you finish and get the cdl it's $600 a week. That's paid to you really by your mentor who is more than likely an O/O who gets team pay for both of you and pays you $600 or .12 a mile over 5k whichever is more as long ad you are available to work. You have to do 30k miles at this rate. (40k total, 10k credit for their school instruster training and remain 30k getting paid) After that it's .34 a mile for a full size rig (which I'm finding out they don't really give newbies) so you really make .39 because you will be in a light wight and get the bonus. That's the basic, I know there is reset pay, fuel bonus, detinintion pay, that sorta stuff but not sure off amounts. If anyone knows anything to add... Please do!
autobarry Thanks this.
