you will probably have to get a cab. they feed you lunch. you stay at a best western. the hotel is nice. indoor pool sauna the hotel has free breakfast. terminal is ok i am also new so dont have much to base it off of. you dont really chose a truck you take what they give you .. if they have a few different available they mite give you a choice.. also not really much around hotel there is a walmart but its a little bit of a walk down the street -
The above poster is correct. You will prolly have to get a cab fr Carlisle but I'd call and ask first if anyone will come get you in the company van. The best western is very nice. Best hotel I've stayed at coming from a terminal yet. They feed you lunch which are quite good. Bfast is free at hotel and dinner is easily had from ordering delivery to the hotel. There is the Walmart about a 10 min walk prolly less than that down the road. If your nice to the shuttle can driver and he's not super busy you can ask if he will take you to Walmart quick on his last run from the terminal so you won't have to walk. The shippensburg terminal is not one of the nicest terminals. Its not the worst but not the greatest either. They are building a new terminal right next to it and they've broke ground on it but won't be done for awhile. You will most likely get w/e truck the assign to you. Usually don't have a choice. You will either get a international pro star, Pete or a freight liner Cascadia. Usually not a ton of trucks to choose from but that sort of thing changes daily.
I would say the only thing you should really know about the orientation is to pack your patience with you haha. Your going to need it. They take awhile to do just about anything and drag out the last day before finally telling you whether your hired or not. It makes for a very long 3 days for sure! And don't forget any documentation you might need. They are very strict on wanting every piece of paper they most likely asked you to bring already. Good luck and have fun and see ya out here on the road! -
o yea patience... my class didnt get out and really find out who all was hired till almost 8pm friday. it was rather a really long friday....
