I have a 89 int with a 400 big cam iv in it. We have a sled pull at the local fair tomorrow nite and i want to do some more tweaking. Guy told bout a stinger but didnt give me real good details anyone that can help me would be greatly appreciated. I have a blank button with 13 shims with a ht4c charger and i forget what injectors it has. Truck will turn over 2800 rpm but it looses all its smoke like it could use more fuel.
From the description he gave me was to pull the cover off the button cover and tap it with a 1/4 fine thread bolt and adjust it so its within a 1/8 to 1/4 inch away from the idle adjustment screw. My question is can i drive it to the pull this way or do i adjust it at the pull? Next question is when i get to the end of the track and push the clutch in is the motor gona run away?
Stinger for big cam cummins. Need help asap!!!!

I don't think the stinger will help you, you're already at 2800 rpm. Have you removed the ball in the end of the throttle shaft and backed out the fuel screw? This will allow more fuel volume to the injectors.

I have i believe its 6 full turns out

You can easily raise fuel rail pressure by partially restricting the return fuel line.
-
Whats the best way of doing so ? Im not real familiar with the big cams ive had this truck since 01 tinkering here and ther with it

You can pinch the return hose with a brake hose clamp or similar.

The school of Vise Grip technology, all Trans Con Lines drivers were graduates of it, back in the day.
puncher Thanks this. -
LOL and if you got them too tight it would cackel like an old red hen.

Very true, but didn't we used to take the return line loose and install a washer to restrict the fuel some but still allow some relief to the pump ?

We used to take a dime, drill a very small hole in it, then put it in the return line fitting at the fuel tank.
