I know there are women that work in the oil fields or at least haul to and fro. Can you tell me what your experience has been like?

My mom has done it for years. She ran a shot truck dumping anti rust chemicals down the wells for BJ Services. Making good money, too. She loves it. Hooks up a small hose, dumps chemicals, moves to next well.

Plains . Dupre. EasTex Crude. Sunoco. Big Star. Permian Crude. Gazelle Transportation. Sentinel Transportation. Enterprise Products.

That should give you plenty of research as far as "decent" companies to work for in Texas.

I'm a tanker yanker in Seminole; I haven't seen any other women in the fields around here (other than my supervisor) but everyone that I've dealt with so far have been really nice, receptive to working with me and helpful.

My wife has been a crude hauler for a year now. She is a tiny thing, about 5'4" and 120 pounds so when we first showed up for the job, the boss pulled me to the side and asked, "Can she even lift the hose?". Both companies we worked for were always good to us and let us run together in case she ran into any issues but it really wasn't necessary. When she pulls into to a LACT to hook up a lot of times a male driver will run over to hook up for her as you will find a lot of drivers are just nice people who are out to help other drivers. Currently we are team driving the crude and I get to see some of the expressions of the 4 wheelers when they spot her. A lot of women give her a "thumbs up" motion. You will on rare occasions the male who thinks women have no place in hauling crude but as long as you don't act like you should be treated different than the other drivers you will get respect. The hardest thing to overcome is that the trucks were not built for small short people!
