It is only legal if the 4 Wheelers are stopped or creeping along (example; traffic, etc) and the reason it's legal is because motorcycles are air cooled so they can't sit or they will overheat.

Actually was just informed of this a couple of days ago by my husband. We were sitting in a traffic back up and a motorcycle went by, he was lucky I looked before dumping my drink out or he would have been wearing it. Ha I got mad and that's when hubby told me. He used to ride all the time when he was off the road.

Didn't want anyone thinking I was all kinds of smart!!! Ha

Not all motorcycle motors are air cooled in the sense you are referring to, where they rely on wind to disperse the heat. Some are oil cooled and even liquid cooled like on your car where a mechanically driven pump circulates though a radiator

There's even some like what you are talking about that have a fan to simulate that "wind" to keep cool when running but, not moving.

Besides, where does it state in the law that because of risk of overheating is why this heinous act is allowed?

I figured its because motorcycles are narrow enough to fit between rows of stopped cars.....

Either way, neither reason is good enough to allow this to continue or even happen in the past.

Yeah and if you woulda spilled it on him and he happened to crash because of it, it would've been your fault. That's why this is a stupid law and why motorcycle riders need to not do it even when the law says they can. Is your life or risk of personal injury less important than a motor, or even taking a peak into the aftermarket for a fan setup so you don't have to worry about overheating if you have to sit like everyone else in a traffic jam?

I wouldn't want to live paralyzed. I know a guy who got hurt in an ATV accident and is a quadriplegic his life doesn't look good.

I never tried to go down the zipper on my Harley. I don't think it would fit Between 2 cars. I have a FLHX with the crash bars and pegs out front I think it's too wide. Or I would be just scraping by. On my sporty I know I could do it. But I never did. I usually jump off the highway and find a way around.
