If you get a speeding ticket, which is something I personally have done, get a lawyer. Most times the court will not talk to you directly. The lawyer will charge you around $300. He will then show up in court the day you are suppose to be there. You will not have to show up yourself. If the police officer fails to show up, which happens 25% of the time, the lawyer will have the case tossed out. If he does show up, the lawyer will make a deal with the Prosecutor. They will change the charge to something more agreeable. Like reducing the speed you were traveling to 5 miles over or less. Your fine will be higher. $151 or so. You then have the 30 days to report this to your company. Always pay the lawyer first, the court will give you time to pay but the lawyer won't. It is worth it in the long run as you save on insurance cost.

I got a speeding in Alabama for exactly 15 over and I called the Drivers Legal Plan and since I had let my membership lapse instead of $100 fee I had to pay $300 but they got it reduced to a non moving violation and I just paid the $150 fine. I did call a bunch of traffic ticket lawyers in the area but they were quoting me extremely high prices.
