We have many former O/O's working here that are more than able to get in and do some wrenching.

I would love to work for WalMart as a driver. I know I'm not there yet, but maybe in 10 or so years.

I envy you Walmart driver and I hold alot of respect for you guys. Most of you are not "better" than us to have a mature conversation. Mature drivers are hard to come by anymore.

I find the people hating on the Walmart drivers are those that won't respect anybody but themselves.

Drivers should look at Walmart drivers with great respect, cuz the percentage of Walmart driver who are indeed professional is way higher than any other company that I know of...

You should start applying as soon as you meet the minimum qualifications. It may take years of trying to get on,it took me over ten and my guess is the average would be three years . If your called in for an interview the worst thing that could happen is your not picked to move on in the process. But knowing what to expect at the next interview could be very beneficial the next time your called in. In the mean time keep everything about your life nice and orderly. No tickets, accidents or incidents is a no brainer, but you also must be able to show a long record of stability and success.

During the years that I spent trying to get on with Walmart it was almost impossible to find clear and concise information about working for the private fleet. Lots of truck stop BS along with second or third hand knowledge was all that was available. Remember this was back in 2000 before trucking industry forums started popping up.

A few years before I got hired I found the Walmart forum over at tuckingboards.com and saw that a few drivers were helping out with information but not all the time, I go by firefighterdoug over there by the way. Even before I was hired I tried to get information flowing that would help me as well as others looking at Walmart.

After I got hired I really wanted to try and pay it forward by helping others that wanted information to help them decide if Walmart was the place for them. I remember how frustrated I got when I was trying to find out about working for the private fleet and I had to sift thru the BS. Now I just want to be sure people are getting the right inormation and getting answers to their questions.

As for coming here to gloat well......maybe just a little.

Thanks for the info. I also work for a private carrier and was trying to see if we were in line with you guys. We make .52cpm on hub and 36.50 every stop. And deliver a lot of product to walmart. Ours too is performance based but not real confusing.

Sir, you don't have to gloat to anyone. You've got the job many of us dream about. Personally, I wouldn't mind working for W*M, but I've got other goals I want to fulfill first. That and I just don't know enough about this industry as a whole.

We need to be sure people understand performance vs activity when it comes to pay because they could mean different things depending on the company. At Walmart activity pay includes drops, hooks, stops, live loads and unloads and compensation for unscheduled time.
