That's good to know. I am going to be there for orientation and my refresher course and then back to Houston, so I'll be there for two weeks. Am I looking at mostly Volvos with automatics? Don't really care as long as it's clean just wondering what to expect.

We have Volvos, Freightliners and Internationals. I do believe all are autoshift. Mine was very clean when I got it but I was fortunate to get a 2011 Volvo with 85K on it.
So you are going out with a trainer for 3 weeks?Indiana Jack Thanks this. -

Today was a good day. Hot breakfast, physical, Chicken alfredo for lunch, uniforms, lots of computer based hazmat stuff, and back to the hotel, which is not bad at all. Road test tomorrow, and more orientation stuff. So fat so good, and have not met a rude person from Averitt, heck from anywhere we've been in Cookeville for that matter. Doc did tell 4 of us today that we needed sleep apnea screening though. TL drivers will be routed back up here to get that done sometime within the next 90 days. I have been to other orientations, but his hands down has been a very well run deal and we have been treated very well.

Another day of paperwork, and a road test in an automatic Volvo. That truck drove really well although the delay in the throttle took a little getting used to. Wore the spiffy new red uniforms today. When we got to the service center to take the road test we walked into the driver's lounge and there was nobody in there. No drivers sitting around waiting for loads, nobody telling stories that begin with "ya'll ain't gonna believe this" or complaining about how the company is screwing them and so and so is hiring and paying 2 million a year and you are home all day every day, and how things were so much better at the job they just quit, none of that. A few guys came in, got their paperwork, asked if we were new, said welcome aboard, talked to us for a few minutes, hopped in their trucks, and rolled on. I'm itching to get on the road to see if they back up what I've seen so far with solid work up and down the roads.

Orientation wrapped up this afternoon. Got to meet my fleet manager, seems like a good guy. Got hooked up with who my trainer will be. Supposed to call him tomorrow at 1600 to set up details for next week. I will be out with him until Friday then flying home for wifey's birthday. In orientation they said you can't add any thing to the truck. I guess that means I can't hang my 6" chrome cow bell on the back? Also just in case I'm not on here much next week, a quick and early happy birthday to my cuz spydrvenom.
