trucks been sitting for 5 years

There is still a few decent companies that will lease an older truck on. Mercer,Besel,Malone, and Mawson and Mawson to name a few.

i would get some batteries and see what happens from their...

but if it runs anything that can leak will leak after sitting that long and try to get the price down 4k sounds alot better to me but i can't see it. i wouldn't be afraid of it and there are plenty of places to lease it to... and there are still a few people that know how to tweak the pumps on those things and if driven right you can see decent mileage and it would be paid for

 

I beg to differ, as long as it looks clean and passes inspection you have many places that will take you on.

 

schneider for van, mercer for flatbed, there is too right there and i think landstar also with 3 types of trailers..

heck go put it to work in the oil fields they don't care how old it is either... companies have this "theroy" that a new truck won't break down

if you ask a tow company they mainly haul the new trucks not the old ones

I purchased a total of three older rigs and worked them and fixed them up, I would put those trucks up against any wired rig.

 

RUNAWAY!!!! New fedral emmissions laws that are coming into affect will not allow that truck to hit the road unless you upgraded it with all the new catalyst components. that would cost you about 20 grand. that truck is worth nothing but its weight in scrap.

 

I am not sure where you find that information but it is not correct.

 

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will have to put new tires on it. After 5 years, the rubber will have broken down.

Are you mechanically inclined? It would at least have to turn over if I was to be interested, And: not full of water. Not ruptured from freezing.
The brakes are likely frozen. The hoses are likely brittle. Lights don't like to sit. Change the fuel filter(s) before firing it and drain off the old diesel and put in a little new if you can. Could be fun; could be a nightmare.
