Hey guys. I'm pretty new to this trucking forum. I'm slated to start school in September and looking forward to continuing my education while on the road. I've got some great feedback here and while looking around one issue that is scarce is food & health. I realize it's probably very hard out there to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'm determined to make it work. If you don't have your health what do you have?
I am currently employed with Whole Foods. I've learned quite a bit about health while working here. I came across a topic today for those of interest and who are unaware about our body's "PH" levels. Some very interesting things . . such as (cancer can't live in a PH body)
When your sitting in the cab and have a few minutes to surf I recommend looking up some articles on maintaining proper PH levels.
I realize not everyone will be interested in this post . . and that's okay. I plan to blog while on the road a little about healthy eating with the help of my girlfriend who is an amazing organic/natural food chef.
Food heals and I'd like to give a little back to the trucking community if I can help . . as right now it's all I have to offer back in thanks for all the info I've received. I'll try to post new stuff as I can.
Food For Thought ... maintaining proper PH levels

Although I won't be going to school until next spring, I look forward to reading what you have to say about eating healthy while on the road. I'm sure it can be challenging at times but with a little planning and some good advice it can be accomplished. I am a health food nut and definitly want to keep up the good eating habits while driving otr. You are right about food healing all ills, I think the saying goes "Let food be thy medicine...and medicine be thy food". Great advice for anyone serious about their health!

You state that cancer can't live in a PH Body. Is that a body with an alkaline PH or Acidic PH and at what level ?
-
It is ideal to have a pH level in the alkaline range to maintain good health. The more acidic a person is, the more likely they are to be get sick and be unhealthy.http://www.frequencyrising.com/pH.htm

Cancer happens in people with normal ph levels too ! Not as much, since cell reproduction goes awry when ph gets out of range. But the statement,"cancer can't live in a ph body" ? is FALSE.
However Blood ph is very important to health, both physical and mental.Last edited: Aug 3, 2012

Your body will always have a PH value and usually it's around the 7 mark. I've read that Cancer cells thrive in a more acidic environment but does anyone really know. We are still nowhere near a cure for cancer. We are still stuck in the chemo method. Exercise is useless without proper nutrition/diet. Most people are clueless as to what they should be eating. Diets don't work. You have to adopt a proper eating lifestyle and regimen that can take years to flourish. This country is in a mess when it comes to food and nutrition. The Europeans for instance are way ahead of the game. I recently went to France for a short vacation and one thing you didn't see much on my travels was fat people. Everyone seemed slim and healthy. No fast food, no junk food, but people take time to prepare good meals.

Unfortunately, cancer is not just one thing. Cancer is a whole series of similar diseases. Some say that obesity is a form of cancer. The subcutaneous fat layer is an endocrine organ, and obesity is growth gone unbridled. Each person has thousands of cancer cells alive and active in them at any given second. Whether one takes hold is definitely a question of food, environments, genetics, and personal choice. The old quote goes: Genetics may prime the trigger, but environment sets it off. I had always heard that it was sugar and carbs that is cancers favorite food. People who eat traditional diets without processed industrial foods don't have that disease. I personally think the healthiest way to eat is "clean" paleo-- but high fat, not low fat.
