Graduating from National Training tomorrow. Course was definately worth it, and had adequate backing and behind the wheel time. All of the instructors had at least 10 years of CDL experience prior to becoming instructors, and offered useful responses to questions that were brought up about things taught in the curriculum, as well as questions pertaining to the trucking industry.

The job placement rep was good about not pushing companies on students, simply stating only facts about companies, and giving logical advice, such as avoid fishy contracts, and don't get a reputation as a job hopper. The rep had contacts to local, regional, and OTR opportunities. We were visited by a few recruiters, mostly during our lunch time, and attendance to the presentations were optional.

If anyone is considering National Training, it's my personal opinion that your money will be well spent, and if you put forth an honest effort, you will learn all the skills required to obtain your CDL.

I also had good experience at National Training graduated 7/13/12 Good instructors, plenty of time behind the wheel and the grounds / Classrooms were nice. It was Great having a 1.5 mile shifting track on site. Some of the equipment could use some upgrading but the road trucks were decent. That coupling truck is ready for the graveyard LOL.

P.S. They are located in Green Cove Springs FL about 20 miles from Jacksonville

I graduated from there in October last year. Loved it and worth every penny!!!

Harold was my instructor there and from what I understand he works for our company now lol.

I'll be going next weekend to the open house to talk to students about Roehl. I'll be taking my truck and trailer up there too!

DrtyDiesel You work for Roehl rt ? I'm thinking about applying with them I'm supposed to start Knight on te 20th but looking at other options. Where is orientation for FL residents ? The only thing holding me back is their whole sleep apnea thing I'm a big boy and don't want to have to deal with the tests and physicals. But on the other hand heard some good things on Roehl and like that they ave different divisions.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

Yeah. I love it here honestly. They have their faults like any company but I've always been treated great.

I'm a big dude too, 250lbs 5'7" with a 17 inch neck. I don't have sleep apnea and never took any tests for it and they don't make me sleep with one of those machines. I'm thinking they must have cracked down on it after I had already been hired.

I did van starting out because that was all that was available in Florida. After 6 months of pulling a box I wanted something more physical, flatbed was it.

I swore id NEVER be a tarp thrower, but here I am and couldn't be happier. I have my days I wanna quit and give up, but I'm definitely happy I haven't. It is nice that if you get tired of van there's 3 other divisions to choose from.

All in all we have flats, vans, reefer, and curtain side.

I graduated on 4-13-12. Have to say the school was very good. Skip was my instructor. Never a dull moment with him in the truck. I agree the coupling truck is on its last legs. Must of climbed in and out of it at least a hundred times. I recommend National highly!

Skip is awesome, and the coupling truck was DEFINITELY on its last legs lol.

The owner was telling us he's thinking about retiring the t600's and the coe. The classic xl's will become the backing trucks and the old Pete will be the coupling truck. But that was what we were told back then. I'm sure because of all the emissions crap their just gonna keep rebuilding the engines and trannies.

I liked mike the instructor and mike the mechanic, dennis was a trip too. Definitely a great school in my opinion.

Skip quit while I was at the school he was there the first day then he quit. It appeared as though he caught the school off guard and they we're not expecting it. They said he went back on the road and moved to TN. They had a new guy Jim Bob start that week, all the instructors were great Dennis sure is a trip he had some great stories.
Even the instructors agreed that they needed to move arround and get rid of some of the equipment. I trained in truck#97 2000 Freightliner Classic XL was a nice truck besides that shimmy at 45mph LOL
