10-4 to that Craig! I'm gonna see how this week goes. So far we have a trip from Phoenix back to Ohio with no PP yet but hopefully something good. I'm still trying to get onto the dedicated run but can't get anyone to call me back or answer the phone. But if our miles don't improve for next weeks paycheck I'm gonna have a long talk with our FM

    Wedge Thanks this.

Adkhunter, I agree with Craig 100%. You need to address the miles issue ASAP. There are plenty of miles to be had.

    Stay on their case.

Agreed, if you show you can be early to pu and deliver the miles will flow. I have found you need to ask nicely for the pp and say what you want. I didn't want a slow weekend so asked for a long haul then a pp to get us past the weekend fm's

Well things were starting to improve. Had a load from IL to salt lake city but on my way to pick it up the right blinker stopped working then started again but in fast weird spurts. So I called breakdown to get someone out to look at it/fix it. Thought it was the trailer I had just picked up doing it but turns out to be its the truck. The guy they sent doesn't work on trucks only trailers and tires so I called breakdown back and explained and they tell me that since the blinker is "kinda" working now go pick up load and run to Markham to see if they can get it fixed quick. After getting off the phone with breakdown I thought about what I was just told and looked at the map and saw the Markham would be 2.5 hrs back tracking the wrong way and that I would be going right past it on my way to PU. So I call the FM line to see if I can just stop into the terminal on the way to PU and they put me on hold and tell me no that I have to go PU load and they are gonna get someone to repower me. Bummmmeeerrrr! There goes those miles!

I know how that feels. I've lost quite a few loads to a mechanical failure with the tractor. There isn't much you can do. That's just the way it is sometimes.

Don't know what they'll find when they look it over, but it's a good idea to keep a spare head lamp and turn signal bulb with you just in case. That's something you can change easily and might just save a load.

    Hang in there.

    Hello There. :biggrin_25511:

    Greetings from Gouldsboro, PA!

    Trips and Stats

Just finished an 801 mile run which picked up in Anderson, SC. The nice thing about weekend deliveries is that many (not all) DCs run a limited staff on the weekends, so D&H is mostly the order of the day.

    HaChaa!

Of course the bad side is I have no pre-plan. But again I find myself in a situation where I need to recover some hours before I can really roll. That's what happened last weekend. I had to sit for almost 18 hours and switch to running nights so that I could at the least run 8 hours a day.

As soon as I parked at this itty, bitty, teeny, tiny TS, I sent in a MAC 29 to update my PTA. Normally, I update my PTA when I send in my empty call, but I wanted to scramble back here and duke it out for the 2 remaining parking slots.

So far this week, 1,524 miles.

I head home this week (Wed). My time out this session has been about 6 weeks. That's longer than I prefer, but I needed to co-ordinate my home-time with my kids arrival in Atlanta. I'll spend a couple extra days at home this time before heading back out.

I think I forgot what my dog looks like. :biggrin_2556:

    Dark Side....................maybe

Tell me this happens to another Cascadia and I won't worry about it: My wipers go on when I start the truck.

Speaking of birds...................were we speaking of birds? :biggrin_2556:

The theory is they are descendants from dinosaurs. What's cooler than having a stomp your guts out, chew you up, and spit you out the tailpipe type of critter as your ancestor?

    Nothing.

Of course, in their newly refined form, they lack the stomping your guts out ability possessed by their predecessors (imagine the entertainment..........no, that's bad..........but still).

Take a humming bird. We've all seen them. I had the pleasure (I'll call it that) of running out of hours at a shipper who was nice enough to let me park next to.......you guessed it.......humming bird bushes........rows and rows of them.

First, they can hover, motionless, while they eat. I can't. I need to sit. And speed.........they've got to be the fastest things I've ever seen fly. This habitat had dozens of them flying around chasing each other at speeds so fast you couldn't follow them. I don't know how they keep from smashing into things.

Their job: Easy. Their brain must emit 3 words: FIND RED STUFF!

Don't wear a red shirt and walk up to a grove of humming bird bushes. When one of them sees you, he's coming your way. You'll think someone fired a big fuzzy dart at you.

But the amazing thing is, before that "dart" punches a hole in your chest he'll stop, almost instantly, about 8 feet from you......look you over.......and then split. We're obviously not the right flavor.

So I watch birds all the time. Big ones, little ones. I don't really care what their official names are. I just like to watch them.

Saw a couple of birds chasing each other on my way up here.....maybe 100 feet ahead of me, flying a parallel course to my truck.

"They're playing. How nice. Maybe they're boyfriend and girlfriend."

What are they doing?............."DON'T FLY IN FRONT OF MY TRUCK!" :biggrin_25516:

    BONK!!!

    Man, I'll bet that hurt.

    .................Stupid birds. :biggrin_2552:

    Thanks for reading.

our casscadia sometimes has the wipers come on when we start the truck. Not every time.

Seems the Cascadia electrical circuitry has its quirks.

Made by Chrysler so it's doomed from the beginning to have electrical issues
