Last week I did get my driver a $2.05 going into Florida...However he had to deadhead for 200 miles into Georgia so that I could get him a decent one...$1.58 into PA.

Last week we played h3ll finding decent rates. Ended the week with $4900 to the truck (plus $288 detention) on 1679 total miles (loaded and empty), for an average of $2.92 / mile. All from postings on load boards.

Good job..!!

Not bad at all...Was it Dry Van??

My solution has been this. I drive an older truck (no payments) keep a small % of my money set aside for repairs, have no shiny goodies or big radio and eat smart. so $1.68 a mile does me just fine. Yes I'd like to have more but it gets the bills paid in tough times.. Maybe things will turn around but as long as the big companies are bringing in drivers from europe, mexico and africa , sticking them in trucks nicer than the homes they lived in over there and paying them cheap per mile it isnt gonna change..

I'm all for immigration and the 'american dream', but I sure would like to see the DOT start rigidly enforcing the rule about speaking and understanding English in order to hold a CDL. There were two Russian drivers at the service counter in the TA yesterday, and the TA rep had to call their company so the dispatcher could translate what he was saying because the two drivers couldn't communicate with him.
