Motownfire and camaro68 Thank this. -
I rode with my grandfather ever since I was an infant and then rode with my mom when she started driving. I loved riding in the truck. They only did south Georgia to S Florida and back though. I took my daughter with me for a week this summer. She seemed to enjoy it.

Wife wanted to go with me when I started, I had been driving for 3 years. She's got a CDL A class, got confused with semi and bus. "I don't see how you put up with this! I'll stick my big yellow schoolbus!"

I grew up in the truck with my dad, I used to spend almost whole summers in there with him between school and I was pretty young, guess that's why when he told me "Go to college, don't be a rum dumb truck driver like me." I never listened and as soon as I turned 18 and could get my license I did and ever since then I've been motoring along...

Same, grandfather drove one, father drove one, wife drove one for about 5 miles, and my daughter says she wants to get a CDL and a local job.camaro68 Thanks this.

Exactly . I recently read a report of a driver than ran into a stripe painting truck and burned his rig up . His young daughter was in the sleeper and he got her out . Most likely he hit the truck because he was distracted by her .
How can 4 or more people be safely buckled in in a tractor?camaro68 and Motownfire Thank this. -
I spent every summer vacation riding with my dad, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
Hopefully they were just taking a trip with dad and not living out of the truck, but even that is better than being homeless and giving up your children to DCSContainer Hauler and camaro68 Thank this. -
The only way I see a family living out of the truck work is if you a big oversized sleeper.
camaro68 Thanks this. -
When you are at rock-bottom, and have absolutely nothing, a 60" sleeper is a god send. I've know families that have lived out of a van and another out of a pop-up camper. Life is hard, and if that is what this family was faced with, then god bless them for trying to rise above it the best way they can.
I have ran into a few drivers who had kids with them, and you could tell they were down on their luck. Dirty clothes, the whole deal. I've given money to more than I can rememeber, and a candy bar goes a long way with a kid who has been told NO for the last month about any excessive spending.
