Yes, I paid an arm and a leg at TDI in Sanford, FL. I had no interest in OTR, I just wanted to have my CDL before I started knocking on doors. FYI, we've had a few drivers hired in my yard with no CDL. They were hired with a CDL permit and trained to drive in our yard. I don't know what other qualifications they had. Also, don't forget about the Key Energy CDL training program out of Victoria, TX. Try googling it.

Any idea if Weatherford will hire a rookie driver?

When? I thought it was a brand new program.

I went on their website looking for that program and its not listed anywhere. They have many many driving positions, but they want at least one year driving experience.

Last week they dropped it,guess it was costing them to much for drivers to just leave after a couple months.

Apply anyway. Key will hire newbies, it just depends on the needs of the individual yards. I wanted to work in Stanton or Odessa, but they had too many newbies at the time. The Crane yard was willing to take me on so that's where I wound up.
Once your application is in the system, HR will review it and see if they can find a home for you.

Also try Nabors and Basic. Check out Rockdoctor's thread about hauling crude for Schneider.

I'm very interested in switching to Stanton, but haven't attempted it yet. When I interviewed, my yard manager told me transfers were only allowed after twelve months and that's what the employee handbook says. I've heard rumors there are ways around it, but not sure how to go about it. Also don't want to tick anyone off because I like my job and the company.
