I realize that times are tough in our economy. Fuel costs continue to go up, my wife has told me that our weekly grocery bill is now 20% higher than it was in January. Utility costs have increased 30% and yes, like everyone else, we have been told to do more with less. Needless to say I was surprised when the company where I've worked for the past ten years, Ward Truckload Express, LLC, announced an increase in their accessorial pay package. While it's not huge, it will put an extra $20.00 to $30.00 a week in my pocket to take home. That's about a half a tank of gas for my pickup or Saturday night dinner for my wife and I at the Prime Sirloin Buffet. Still waiting to win the 252 million dollar lottery
but I'll be grateful for the smaller things in life until that time comes.![]()

I have said it since the day I started. Ward Trukload Express is a diamond in the rough. Small company with great pay and hometime.

Congratulations, good news! Nice to hear some trucking companies are doing the right thing & treat their drivers well. Whether or not it's much doesn't matter, they did SOMETHING. Good going Ward!

I know what you mean about a unexpected pay raise. Money has been tight with me also. My son needs 3 root canals done and I didn't know where I was going to get the money from. Then unexpectedly my boss asked me if I wanted to run my route an extra time a week paying me an extra $432 a week. God is good.

Glad to hear some ppl still care out there

ten years for a raise??

Real inflation (not baseline or ex food and energy) is 5% so if you dont get a 5% raise every year, you are essentially earning less every year.
Sorry to be a downer but its simple math.
