I do the exact same thing.

I love it when a DOT Trooper is drooling when he opens my log book binder hoping there's the entire months worth of logs & then.......BAM, only the current day & the previous 7 LMAO.

Exactly! Be the professional that you are supposed to be & they'll leave your logs alone 98% of the time.

And for God's sake, use a ruler. Don't leave your log book looking like a preschooler was drawing in his coloring book while riding on the bus.

the last 3 times i have been inspected, they asked for the log book right off the bat. by the time i parked my truck and walked in the scalehouse with the insurance and registration card and all that other crap, the log book was laying on the desk closed LOL

i got a verbal warning about a 15 minute violation on the 14 hr rule once when i first started driving. i had been driving half at night and half during the early morning. i overlooked the total amount of hours driven from 12a to 11:59p one day and went over by 15 minutes. it was on the 6th day in the log rotation, and i had already done a weekend at home so there really wasnt much he could do. i guess i could have been given a ticket, but he warned me and let me go on my way with a passed roadside and a speeding ticket.

from then on i told myself i will never get another warning on my log book, and so far, i have held up to my own promise. there is no sense in getting a ticket on something that is under your direct control. speeding would fall in that category too, but sometimes it happens. oh, and i havent gotten another speeding ticket either. that was expensive.

You need two pages. The current day and the eight previous that you were on vacation. This sometimes takes multiple log books but you only show him the two pages. :biggrin_25519:

Of course the use of multiple log books is something I am totally unaware of.

If your tired and the cop says driver you gave me the wrong log book don't give him the other one. I told our safety guy that I needed a second qualcomm to use when the first one runs out of hours. I told him I would draw my graph on the screen with a sharpie and tell the cop it was a wireless unit.
