It is hard to get on with Green Valley, but it is worth all the paper work. Everyone gives 110%. Their equipment is older but runs wonderful, like a rocket. 70mph. Everyone knows you, and what you can do. They never ask more of you than they are willing to do themselves. The pay is great, and the folks are very very nice.
Green Vallley in California is the BEST ever!

just applied for them myself.. Looking to get out of the oil field.
-
Are they still running old FL Argosy trucks?
-
I never saw a truck with an Argosy badging there. I would not be afraid to drive any piece of equipment that they have. Their master machanic really knows his way around the trucks. The other thing that is really cool, he can make dispatch change what they want you to do. Example: They have chrome wheels. On an inspection, a California state highway patrol told me I had the beginning of a crack. I had only been driving for about an hour, and I had pretriped the truck. I asked the cop to show me, because I had never seen a crack in the rim. He did. I called the dispatcher, and told him. He told me to deliver in Seattle, then pick up a load and take it back to the yard, then have it fixed. I told the dispatcher I was not sure if that was safe, I wanted to talk to the head machanic before I headed for Seattle. The machanic said no I could not go to Seattle. Dispatch was upset, but they let me get the rim fixed at the yard.

Are you talking Green Valley Transportation out of Tracy, CA? Might be good for company drivers but as a O/O they about put me in the poor house.
-
Yes, I was talking about Green Valley in Tracy. I was a company driver and did very well. You are not the first person that I have heard the being an o/o did not do so well with them. But I have heard lots worse about being an o/o for Navajo than green valley.

Navajo and Green Valley are apples and oranges. Green Valley is a AA&E carrier hauling government freight. Bob is a great mechanic and a good guy to have in the shop.....just remember to say Please and thank you!

I just finished training at California Career Schools. I plan on going back for my bus license as well so I haven't closed out my license. I will be seeking HAZMAT, doubles, tankers, and passenger endorsements. My neighbor works for Green Valley and seems happy. Any advice on getting into the company with no OTR experience? I want to run regional but OTR isn't off the table. CA, AZ, NV, maybe UT would be preferable so long as I'm based out of SoCal.

I fly out to Tracy on the 28th, it was a pain to get on there and only $8/hr for training kinda has me perplexed. However, we'll see what happens. If my super secret squirrel clearance allows it, I'll post my experiences.
