I remember that scandal back from the 80's but had no idea they were using fuel coolers. From what I understood way back when they just had a lot of extra fuel line in the cars but it makes perfect sense now. That was back when Bill Elliot came back from 2 laps down at Talledega and won. He set the lap speed record then that has never been broken and never will be, of course they didn;t have restrictor plates on superspeedways back then either.
Anyone Install a Fuel Cooler?

We drive the exact same trucks you do. Has never hurt anything. I'm not sure if its straight #1 or if theres additives in it, just that basicly you don't have to give it much thought. I will say this, however. I always keep some Howe's on hand just in case. But when I fill up, I never add it.

As far as running in the winter time you could just cover the cooler up to stop the air flow. -
A lot of the tranny coolers I have looked into for this little project have cooling fans on them. They are triggered by temp of fluid going thru them. In blistering cold, I have no doubt that these fans wouldn't even kick on. I have an additional switch on the dash of my new truck that is wired up for whatever I would want to hook up to it. I could just route the electrical connection thru this switch, and have it off during extreme cold. No way the fan would function then. Just have to make sure the switch is on when it is 105F outside. LOL

For sure keep us posted on the project.

I have one of these on my Supercharged F150 for the intercooler water and it does exactly what it says, it uses the AC to cool... The one for fuel says 40-50 degree temp drop but i dont know anyone who has used it... Might be another option but the kit for my F150 was $500 so ROI might take a while depending how much it helps....edit---After reading more it doesnt look like the fuel cooler uses the AC system like the one I have for water does...not sure

I want a lightweight air cooled engine since I run that turnpike in Ohio a lot.
