If you come to Prime, dont lease from the start. Go company for awhile and learn the business. You can run a shadow business to see how you would do. IP has an entire thread about leasing on the reefer side. Get accustomed to the way Prime operates before you train/lease. If you feel its a good idea after some time, then go for it.

The cute trucks have a sleeper half the size of a fullsize. DTB has pics on her profile.

Are you a lease operator? And how are you doing at Prime? Some say its a great company and some dont.

I'll second what ORD has said, except the sleeper part, The Sleeper section does not have the side cabinets, mainly just overheads. In mine I pulled the passenger seat, and installed the refrigerator and a cabinet for clothes, I have an cabinet hole for the TV and I have the microwave strapped below it.
Im company and drive a 2010 light weight, we get paid more also than the fullsized trucks. I won't go lease as I like my home time and I think I make what I need, plus I don't want the hassles of owning my own business again.
I can't speak for the lease operators, but my trainer was a lease operator.

I thought about it, I dont want to lease a truck anymore. Things are hard for me, im not getting miles so its harder to take care of the family at home. There are some weeks that are good for me and there are some weeks that are bad for me, but now its the worst of all I ever went through. So after thinking I thought about leasing I thought I would make more money. But looks like its hard to run as a L/O. Having a wife at home and a 8 month old baby not gonna be good if I lease. I think I will just go with another company and just train. Walmart is a hard company to go to and think I would require more experience to get accepted. Companies Im interested in right now are Crete, Prime and Stevens. I hear good about Prime but dont know if they will accept me. I will try putting in app with them online

Is theres any space for apu? You did alot just to have space in that truck. But since you get paid more for driving a lightweight I guess its better. I dont know how comfortable it is but will not have a problem with it as long as I have a passenger seat.

If you want to lease, make sure that your business hat is on, and you have the cash in reserve to get things going. Prime has new trucks to lease, with APU's available. Your fridge can be put into the truck, or you can buy one. Prime does not pay cents per mile like Trans-am, but pays % of each contract you fulfill (72% for reefer) as well as fuel surcharge and all detention paid. I would recommend doing your homework on how to run a truck as an independant operator, since leasing puts the whole operation on you.

    da1 and Emolson Thank this.

Guess Prime and Crete is the only company im down with right now. I was more interested in Walmart but its really hard to get hired with them so I dont even try. It would require me a few more years of experience if I will fill out in app with them. But for Prime I may not have the idea of leasing any more, but I do plan to train at their company and know I can do the job well to train. At Werner im not having a good time and I guess its time to say good bye. Not getting any miles and to much sitting and waiting. At Prime everybody may not have the same experience, but I think they are a good company and treat their drivers fair. They have nice equipments and get their drivers on the road more. I filled out an app with them and waiting to hear a call from them. Same for Crete, but I wanted to get experience on driving a reefer so I Think im more with Prime. Thanks for the advices
