Well its been awhile since I've been on here but here is a little update ,overall everything has been pretty good I went through the Academy and if I said it all went smoothly it would be a lie but overall a good experience. The instructors are all good and really seem to want you to succeed I came in with a CDL so I wasn't as stressed out as some people allot of stuff is thrown at you while you are there. Safety and being able to make you a safe driver seems to be their main objective not just getting you your CDL like some schools.
Everyone I've met seems to be nice and like I said they all seem to really care and want you to do good and succeed whether you stay with FFE are not. Orientation was kind of crazy and don't buy all the insurance they try to sell you or you won't have anything left in your paycheck, the good thing is they feed you 3 meals a day until you get hired but if you don't pick up a trainer right away they pay for the hotel room but your meals are now your responsibility while you wait.I have to check out of room in the morning and bring my bags to the terminal by 9:00am as I understand my trainer should be there sometime tomorrow and I will be leaving for 6 weeks.
So I'm not sure when I'll have time or internet access once I leave so I thought I would write this before I pack everything up tonight. So to sum it up Im happy with what I have seen so far from this company with no real surprises or regrets about coming here.

where you required to have your birth certificate if you already have a cdl?
-
Thats a pretty fair way to put things Virus. I can agree with everything he said. You are going to hear good and bad about every company no matter what. There will always be someone there bad mouthing companies. You have to take what you hear and remember who you hear it from.

Not really, I had mine but was never asked for it they do ask to see your Social Security card though. It looks like a few of us don't have OTR trainers yet so come Monday we will go out with local driver trainers until a OTR trainer becomes available so we came back to the hotel for the weekend and have to be back at the terminal sometime Mon morning. I called my local trainer and he said once he knows whats going on he will call me sometime Sunday afternoon or evening so we have the weekend to kick back.ncfinfn Thanks this.

Hey Privy i am coming in tonight for the training on monday. Will be showing up at the hotel around 7-8. Maybe I will get the chance to talk to a few of you there tonight.

Bill, first you will be going to the hotel at Fort Worth which is about 10min from the Academy if your lucky you get to stay at hotel for awhile if your unlucky like I was come Mon you will be given a key to one of the dorm rooms and will be staying there until you graduate. Only the women get to stay at hotel the entire time at the school the dorms aren't bad just nothing really around there as food goes.
Prepare yourself for hot weather once on the backing range you will be in the sun most of the day I had a wide brim hat and a bandanna to wet down and throw around my neck it helped allot, you could tell who was use to the heat and the ones that had no clue how hot it can be down here in Texas
I'm at the MCM Grande Hotel you do not come here until you graduate and go to orientation it is also only about 10 mins from the truck terminal in Lancaster it has a few more places within walking distance to go to plus they have a shuttle bus that will take you around a 5 mil radius from the hotel. -
To clear this up any difficulty I experienced was my own doing I had a couple years prior driving experience from years & years ago but had some bad habits that at first were hard to let go of.You must forget what you know or what you think you know and just follow what the instructors are telling you and everything will be fine.Basically you do the exact same training as non CDL holders but do not go to DPS/DMV for testing you go straight to orientation with other CDL holders when the time comes.ncfinfn Thanks this.
