I have a garmin for trucks, had it for almost 6 years, and to date have never been lead astray, I have never up-dated the unit ether, I have talked with drivers that have had the cobra and pc miler, that have said to have had many problems, Although I have no personal expierence with them myself, just from other drivers, I'll stick with the garmin, If I ever need to get a new one

The acronym for GPS equates to, "Gettin' People Stuck"

I have two GPS in the truck. Both are Garmin. The first on is my Nuvi 750. It is no longer made and I use it because of the MP3 player. Like mentioned before. I can run an 8 gig SD card in it with updated programing. This lets me listen to over 120 hours of music with no repeats. I also carry multiple cards so I can listen to my books.
I use the Garmin 465T for traffic and directions. I has lead me down a wrong road exactly once. It never will again. If the road looks wrong hit the detour button until it gives you a route that makes more sense. It also has bluetooth for phone conversation.
As a pilot I have learn to trust these things more then paper maps. But I don't quit thinking on my own.CAXPT Thanks this. -
I have the Garmin Dezl and love it.
It keeps track of my ifta which is really nice. -
Sorry to say I'm using a TomTom ONE, and we came to an understanding. It can direct me where it wants, after I check the routing it offers against the routing the Atlas/Map says that makes sense to me.

Like the others have said, even though this is a car gps, it has worked for me as long as I don't let it do the thinking for me.
Like Gravdigr suggests, check the feature list of the ones available and choose or at least narrow down which one you are thinking about then ask people's experience with them.
I'll say one thing, that TomTom is smarter than a certain former company's Qualcomm directions were....the QC tried sending me the wrong way.

Thanks all for your insight.
Like I said, I'm pretty used to the Garmin interface, but...it seems as though a lot of drivers have given the 465 a bad review. I have a car version, and it has served me well as a guide and for ETA's and mileage to destination. Used along with a paper road atlas, satellite pics from the internet, and/or phone calls to the customer, it's a great navigational aid. Mine is locking up and not very reliable anymore, which is why I need a new one.CAXPT Thanks this. -
i wouldn't recommend rand on my dead ex wife.
but i LOVE pc miler. 18 months now. although i don't really care for all the fancies yall like. i just want it to get me there. and that's exactly what it does.
my phone can do the rest.
as for a 7 inch screen. why do you all want something so big it lights you up inside your cab. and intrusive.
i like the inside of my cab DARK. so i can see the road at night. and no one can see my smiling face.
i'm perfecdtly happy with my 4 inch screen. and i'm an old blind man. -
TND 700 here, waiting for winter before I get the 720. The live weather looks useful.

That's why I want just the 5" screen. I've seen the 7" ones in trucks I've parked next to, and they are just too big for me. I don't need a television in my windshield.
