onna be interesting to see how we're all going home when we're all on the box. 1 hour away. out of hours. OR even better. 30 minutes from pickup or delivery
8 day 70 hour rule?

You need to start being stingy with your hours, only log what you have to, start using lines 1 & 2 more often. If you stop the truck for any reason always take at least 15 minutes. in off duty. short lenghts of time add up and are not questioned. It also helps keep your 70 in tact. Also drivers give away lots of miles they do not need to. Like crossing Los Angeles, if you log all the way across your giving up time. I log say from Oxnard to LA 1 hours and from LA to ontario as 45 minutes. Using a 15 minutes pee brake to setup the time/distance swap. Loading and unloading your only required to show 15 minutes for signing and completion of paperwork. I see driver all the time show 3 or 4 hours unloading. I show say 3 hours 45 minutes off duty and 15 minutes unloading.
Im not telling you what to do just trying to answer your question, I have logged this way for 30 years and never been questioned by DOT. But now I have set myself up for some flaming. Its ok Im tough I can take it.CAXPT Thanks this. -
you can't control the box. though.
there's now way we can change that drive time when that truck is moving.
course, i've never had the box. so others would have to chime in. -

What's a hyour?

Had e logs, if that truck is rollin, you are on drive line, and can not change that line.
-
Yeah, on the box you can "sometimes" move your truck a little ways but it does not like it, dings every two seconds warning you of the impending violation. If you go past idle speed and it kicks on its an instant HOS violation. Only know this because I got out of a shipper extremely late and thy wouldn't let me camp out inside the fence...

Then you get to go see the guy at the company for being in violation. Sometimes, it can be rotton. Smile

Interesting note, some driver today made it completely around the block and it left him in the sleeper. Not advising this or trying it myself but he said he hit fourth gear but since it was back to the other side of the same building and he did it quickly it kept him logged in the sleeper... Sounds risky to me though. Better idea to just make sure you've got your trips planned correctly!

doesn't matter how correctly you plan your trips. you can't predict the future and what incident will screw up your perfectly correct plan.
like an accident that shuts down the freeway for hours.
now i know why someone was hollering on the cb for the closest truckstop. cuz he obviously wasm't gonna make his perfectly laid out plan.CAXPT Thanks this.
