Hi, I've been looking at several company sponsored CDL programs and am planning to get started in mid October. Today i got a speeding ticket for 12 mph over (47 in a 35). other than that i have no other traffic violations. This was my only speeding ticket in 9 yrs. Will this be a problem with companies like Swift , FFE, Stevens ? I plan on Going through one of there Training Programs. I havn't applied to any yet but will be in the coming weeks.

Most of the companies I've applied with only had issues with people that got them for 15+ mph over. I don't think it will hurt you, but definately won't help. Since you don't have your CDL yet ( I'm assuming), you may be eligible for traffic school to keep the points off your record.

Do whatever you can to keep it from showing up. Traffic school, lawyer, whatever. One ticket like that ain't too bad, however, you never know. You might get another one before this one drops off, and that could be trouble.Points add up.
One ticket as you described will probably not affect your ability to enroll in a school. -
Thanks for the replies, Traffic school definitely would be the smart move. hopefully i can get it reduced... just takes that one time driving through the country and not paying attention to the change in speed zone and your lookin at the lights in the rear view. definitely don't need the points.

Just make sure you get it taken care of before going for your CDL. Once you have a CDL, you may no longer use traffic school to get rid of a ticket.

Usx hired me with a 15 over. Take the class and get the points off and you'll b fine.

I think u will be fine, just try to watch your speedometer more often.

cruise control can be your best friend,, it's helped keep my record clean for years! Especially those long 25-35 mph zones.

Not in a case like this. -
Nobody is perfect, and no one can drive without occasionally violating driving rules and regs. Most times, a person gets away with it. But if you are unlucky, you get nailed. If you are REALLY unlucky, you bend some metal and possible hurt or kill someone.
People who try their best to obey the rules and regs, are much less likely to get "unlucky," than folks who just ignore them. One speeding ticket for 12 over won't be the end of the earth for you. But I'm with the others here that are saying if you can get it expunged, (by going to school or whatever,) you probably should do it.RALPHMANBEARPONY Thanks this.
