i hate the memphis terminal!
i take my truck there AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. happy with the Co. though.
EDIT: i have to come back and say this. you are a new driver fresh out of school i assume. so lets look at this statement by statement.
so..... WHY DID YOU GO TO WORK FOR THEM IF YOU KNEW
STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF YOU THINK THEY MADE THE BUS LATE, OR IF YOU MEAN YOU ARE GLAD YOU DIDN'T GET THERE ON TIME LOL
WELL, WOULD YOU RATHER THEY SEND YOU OUT IN AN UNSAFE TRUCK OR ONE THAT MIGHT BREAK DOWN?
THAT IS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! I JUST WENT THROUGH SCHOOL AND TRAINING AT THE FIRST OF THE YEAR, AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT I DID? (ALONG WITH SOME OF THE OTHER CLASSMATES I HAD) I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH A BOX FULL OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD I PICKED UP AT THE DOLLAR STORE. YOU KNOW WHAT I DID WHEN MY TRAINER PICKED ME UP? I HAD THAT SAME BOX, WITH MORE STUFF IN IT! AND......WHEN I WENT TO SPARTANBURG S.C. ON THE GREY DOG TO PICK UP MY TRUCK GUESS WHAT I DID......YEP SAME BOX, SAME CONTENTS!
I REALIZE FIRST IMPRESSIONS CAN BE IMPORTANT.....BUT IT SEEMS TO ME IF YOU HAD BEEN BETTER PREPARED YOU WOULD BE SITTING IN THAT LOUNGE IN A RECLINER RIGHT NOW EATING A CAN OF CHILI OR WHATEVER YOU PREFER ,WATCHING THAT BIG #$$ TV. AND MEETING A FEW DRIVERS ETC.
BOY, I TELL YOU IF YOU ARE ALL OUT OF SHAPE OVER THIS... JUST WAIT TILL YOU SHOW UP AT A SHIPPER/CONSIGNEE AN HOUR EARLY (ALWAYS TRY TO DO THAT BY THE WAY) AND IT TAKES 4-5 HOURS TO GET LOADED/UNLOADED HAHAHA YOU GOT IN AN INDUSTRY THAT IS FAMOUS FOR HURRY HURRY HURRY....NOW WAIT WAIT WAITWen782 Thanks this. -
panhandle pat: I think you hit the nail on the head. I think i will heed your advice when I go to school end of december early january.

please, please do. there were many students who, sometimes unavoidably, came to school with no money food or anything. they ended up bumming cigs, food ,and money almost the whole time.
what i did was waited to go right after income tax (good thing for kids there LOL) i paid my car payment up for a few months etc and had money and food to get me through school and the low-paid training days. it made it much more easy on the mind and spirit. -
panhandle. i don't blame them for makin the bus late but i do blame the memphis terminal for not telling the truth to my fleetmanager. i dindn't come with any food b/c i'm f'n broke. i have went 2 weeks w/o a paycheck b/c of this company. they told me the was going to pay me 60/day while they tried to find me a truck. the 1st week i was off thye only paid me for 4days of training that i was fine with, i only worked 4 days and when my advance got taken out of that i didn't make nothing. now this monday i waited for a check and ddin't get anything which means they didnt' pay me for the couple days that i sittin waitin on them. i went with the company because i didnt' think they would do this to me. i mean i heard about them not giving many miles and other stuff. but i can deal with that. i have done dealt with being there early and having to wait. it sux but i can deal with that. i still haven't drove the truck. i would rather go out in one that is safe but jeeze, i didnt' know it takes 24hrs to put a hood on the truck. i say that b/c that is what they tell me is all that is leftto put on the truck. i think this explains better. the one thing that just makes me mad is that they rushed me to get out here, by taht i mean i asked them if i could just go home whne the bus was 6hrs late and they said no b/c they had a truck lined up for me and then i get here and i have to wait another day+ when i could have spent that at home relaxing and sleepin in a nice comfy bed instead of at this terminal. and before you even say it i know when i get on teh road i won't have taht nice comfy bed but jeeze. oh well i'll prolly get bashed for this post too. oh well

Like the boy scouts say, always be prepared. Surely you could afford a loaf of bread and a container of peanut butter? It's better than nothing.

See panhandle is flexible and has REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS about this industry.
It's people like him who make it in this industry. -
haha. they gave me another truck today. went to drive it, abs light is on and loosing air pressure. now how is that for luck...

My husband is in his 3rd week of training with USA Truck he has approx. 55 training hours left. I've read alot in here that USA won't get drivers home often. We have two small children at home and I want him home every three weeks like promised. Is this possible?? He has to atleast complete his year contract because they paid for school, but if he can't come home he's gonna have to quit. Any advice on this situation?? I'm already going crazy I won't survive if he can't come home atleast 3-4 days a month.

when i first started driving i went to school in oklahoma city for usa truck. at least thats where they sent me...but i was young and dumb and i didnt bring but a $100.00 with me to last me through school and threw the begining of training for like the first week....i can say thank god for walmart i ate only the bean burrito's for like 3 weeks... thats when they were like 40 burrito's ( 2 pack's) for like $5.00........to this day i dont care if i even touch one...lol but i made it, the hard way, but i made it.. now i have money in the bank for such special little events in my life..i have enough to get me through a few months if i have too...
life lesson learned the rough way good luck...usa didnt want to get me home either, but i live in west virginia which explains a lot..
