I went to Napa for 30 minutes and was ask to leave cause i was too classy and i told them i wanted a new truck or i will go home.......the place is run down and the truck look the same....they will tell you every week home and the pay well.....900-1000 take home......how can a OTR company tell you that? Now i did research the crap out of the place and couldnt find what the place look like or etc.......but take my advice.....DONT BOTHER!!!!!! Well I guess If you are from the happy to have a job crowd. Taking control of a crappy truck is all you can aspire to. I however have the record and the experience that allows me to dictate what I will drive and if I go into a yard and see worn ouyt crappy trucks and shoddy facility's, I would walk just like this experienced driver did.

Sorry but I put my time in driving trucks that had to get fixed all the time. And since most OTR companies don't pay you to drive their rigs around to different dealerships and terminals to get fixed. Why should I not demand a dependable rig, If I where driving on a piece rate?

And there is no senoirty unless it is a small company. Most of the time you get what is available and if all they have is crap then I would say call me when you have something worth seating. I did that at IDC and all of a sudden they had a brand new Volvo 780 for me. While the rest of the lemmings where riding a van down to Wilsonville to seat beat up trucks I was getting my permit book together for my new Volvo.

Can you blame them? If that's your attitude on the first day then I can't imagine how you are when things don't go exactly how you want and in this industry, there will be times when that happens. Doesn't matter how much experience you have if you have a negative attitude. Go to a mega fleet and drive a brand new truck, well it won't be much driving as it will be sitting at a truckstop.

Going into a job and thinking you will be getting newer/better equipment than someone whose been there for years is just absurd and i can not even begin to fathom it.

Ive been where i am now for over 4 years. I stuck with it even though i got screwed around plenty of times. Now, i get the pick of the truck, pick of the route, pick of the pallet jack and dolley.

We hired a new guy that comes in demanding abunch of new stuff and guess what, we get it, it goes to me, and i give him my old equipment. They know i treat company equipment with respect and make sure they are properly maintained. I dont abuse it.

Why entrust expensive tools to someone brand new? And why should the new guy get better equipment then the veteran? Itd make me just want to quit then apply again. Its kinda like a bonus to me.
