I have heard and had offers to pull "pad wrap" freight recently, but I don't really know what it is and what it entails.
What exactly is "pad wrap" freight?

Furniture pads to protect the freight in transit. Like oversized padded quilts that is wrapped around the freight.
Beethoven Thanks this. -
Who wraps the cargo? is this usually all trade show freight?
-
Usually the driver and his "team"....mostly it is the "bedbuggers" (moving van companies) Driver isn't alone, he takes a "swamper" (or two) along for the ride. Or the company they pull for, has ground crews at delivery.

Pretty common for new office furniture also with the shipper doing the wrapping and loading.

Does it pay good?

You, the driver, do the blanketing. Unless you're a HHG mover, you take the sole responsibility for packing and loading the goods. It could be all sorts of things. For example: I haul computer, electronic and medical equipment. Whether it needs to be bubble wrapped, shrink wrapped, pad wrapped, strapped or all of the above, it's your duty. That's why they advertise it as needing a "pad wrap" driver. If you didn't have to touch the freight, it would just be another dry van. The job usually comes with a better pay package! Good luck!
